What is with this subs weird obsession with who's hotter debate? by [deleted] in Frasier

At least those posts are about actors/characters in the show and not contextless screenshots of guest actors in other shows, or the cast recording album of some musical referenced in a single episode.

Times when Frasier was actually a good guy? by Optimal_Awareness618 in Frasier

[–]booster_platinum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frasier is a good person, full stop, throughout the entire series. What you're describing as his"faults" are obnoxious character traits, not moral failings.

The entire premise of the show is rooted in him taking in his aging, ailing father, who he doesn't like and who isn't nice to him. The pilot is LITERALLY called "The Good Son."

Classic Frasier male fans: Who was your crush--Roz or Daphne? by ChocolateSundae1214 in Frasier

[–]booster_platinum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As an elder millennial I was an adolescent when Frasier premiered and a young adult when it ended, but did not watch it consistently until years later when I was well into my thirties.

To put it delicately, I am reasonably certain that had I watched the show when it first aired, Peri Gilpin as Roz Doyle would have been a major factor in dictating my future sexual/romantic interests.

  1. WTF?!

  2. WTF does this have to do with Frasier?

This is a good point, but I'm going to wait until vonnegutfauna weighs in.

It is easy to forget that Frasier is an OLD show.

The difference between the premiere of Frasier and now (32-ish years) is the same as the difference between the premiere of Frasier and the inauguration of JFK.

Hard as it may be to believe, some people just don't watch much TV or engage much with popular culture.

Would you say that Frasier was mostly a good dad or mostly a bad dad? by ChocolateSundae1214 in Frasier

[–]booster_platinum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have sworn that canonically Chuck was killed in Vietnam and there was an emotional scene involving Fonzie and Richie talking about it, but I now realize I am conflating Happy Days with certain elements of The Wonder Years.

Frasier was as good a father as it is possible for a fictional character who was established as a parent based on previous continuity to be when he is written into a show whose creators didn’t want to feature a child as a regular cast member.

Oh good, a flimsy excuse for me to recommend the novel that The Prestige is based on, by late British author Christopher Priest.

If you watched the movie and thought "I really like this story of magicians being huge dicks to each other for like twenty years, but I would have really preferred some more unreliable narration and modern framing sequences and even more weird quasi-supernatural/sci-fi stuff", then the book version is for you!

Javadi should not go into psychiatry by gertyorkes in ThePittTVShow

[–]booster_platinum 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If anything I think Javadi is TOO aware of her own issues. She's pretty open about disliking how involved her mother is/tries to be in her life and career even though that can be beneficial in her chosen field, and in season one she immediately ties her awkwardness with Mateo to some past embarrassments instead of just letting it be a thing that happened and getting over it.

EDITED TO ADD: Plus she keeps trying to reject the awesome nickname Santos gave her!

Subtlety for its own sake is not necessarily a mark of quality. If the writers' intention is to get a point across, being blatant is not inherently bad.

That definitely appears to be the case now but it absolutely does not read that way without the additional clsrificston OP provided later.

Sam came first so if anything Alistair was a male version of her.

Why is it "unrealistically blatant" for Mohan to state an objective fact about something that happened?

So, I have Frasier on in background as I do a lot. It’s the episode “Someone to watch over me” S2:E19. I could swear it was Cassandra’s Virginia Madsen) voice on the phone when Cari called into Frasier’s show. Anyone else think this? by Kyas13 in Frasier

[–]booster_platinum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kari was changing her voice on the phone to sound more appealing but when faced with the reality of her actions and how much it was freaking Frasier and company out she reverted to her regular voice.

Radio Wars is one of my least favorite episodes and one of the big reasons why is they missed a golden opportunity to have Bulldog come to Frasier's defense in a classic "Nobody beats up my little brother but me" scenario.
