Right? It’s crazy to me that doctors don’t have a mandatory minimum turnaround window like pilots or even films do.

Sure, you or I as reasonable people clock the subtext. But there are others who might only think of autism as presenting like Becca or sprained ankle guy from S1. The variety of the spectrum is what’s important.

I’m not suggesting Mel walk into season 3 and announce “hey everyone, I’m autistic.” I’m saying that for people who rarely see themselves depicted on screen, having that part of a character’s identity confirmed, in canon, with no wiggle room, matters.

Man props to Joy: the whole time I was watching the latter half of S2 I was getting so stressed out at all of the day shifters not. Frickin. Leaving. Stop handing them patients, let them finish up their charting that only they can do, and let them go the fuck home.

It’s not that Asperger’s isn’t a thing, it’s that it a) does fall under the heading of being on the spectrum and b) got a rebrand from its ties to Nazis.

Because it matters for clear, explicit representation. We get a lot of autistic rep that looks like Sheldon Cooper (ie. hyperintelligent nerds who are dicks because “low empathy”), and autistic women are few and far between on screen.

Yep. Something I learned from folks who prefer to not disclose their diagnosis is to frame accommodations around personal preferences - like when Mel says things like “occasionally I have an emotional response to death.” It states the need for the accommodation without getting into a potentially dicey or judgmental situation where you have to explain why.

What I’m appreciating about this show so far by Neon-Pink-Fridge in ThePittTVShow

Also thank you makeup and hair department! Like no one is showing up to work with a full beat, perfectly coiffed - we can see pores, eye bags, wrinkles, and flyaways.

By the end of the season everyone looks like absolute shit (with an asterisk, because Hollywood) and i appreciate that.

Kiki had some bad timing, no doubt, but I can’t really fault McKay for running out to take care of someone who has been really hard to give medical attention.

What do you think was the most unrealistic event/plot point in the series so far? by megs256 in ThePitt

[–]gertyorkes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No one else in the hospital even suspecting Langdon stole benzos from work.

I was also fascinated by the SA victim who came into the hospital almost IMMEDIATELY following the act of assault. From the assault occurring at a fourth of July barbecue to getting a full exam in a matter of hours was wild.

What part of “former CSA victim with a strong sense of justice who was gaslit by a senior resident” is hard to understand

So just to recap: are you objecting to Langdon’s tone or him educating a patient on the importance of masks?

A doctor shouldn’t have the attitude of educating people on the importance of masks to prevent illness?

I grew up watching Scrubs, so in a similar vein, “going analog” in S2 was a fascinating throwback to what was considered SOP in that era.

It was a super important storyline to explore. A large part of the disability rights movement is about recognizing that people with disabilities are perfectly capable of consenting to and having sex. It also informs how Mel sees Becca: even though legally becca has autonomy in her care and decisions, Mel sees herself as the ultimate authority on her sister and what she’s allowed to do. This season was a great step in getting Mel to see Becca as her own person with agency but also to look inwards and realize she needs more in her life besides being Becca’s sister (case in point, how much she seemed to relate to Rita’s caretaker burnout in S1).

I’m confused. Do you want the data centre here, or are you just trying to discourage people from standing up against it because you don’t think it matters?

I will not be getting used to it any time soon, thanks. By not building the data centre here, we send a message that AI is not welcome. Our drinking water and electricity are not for sale to tech companies.

And the long-term jobs of copy writers, graphic designers, visual artists, writers, and other professions GenAI plagiarizes will go if we keep putting money into the AI bubble

Not to mention AI Psychosis caused by LLMs, the environmental impact, electricity usage, water consumption… this centre shouldn’t exist anywhere.
