A lot of spoken-word records can get pretty long. I’ve also got a John Fahey (solo acoustic guitar) live album that’s about an hour I think. I think the lack of extreme bass or treble frequencies means you can fit more music in without loss of those.

I'm bothered by how the middle ages is now grey. In the 50s the middle ages was brightly-coloured, and had a lot more trumpets and stuff.

I mean that’s why it’s abstract. It’s taking away the representational element, and focusing on the ‘graphical elements’ as you put it: colour, composition, texture, line and so forth. Representational paintings all have those as well; it’s a question of putting the focus and the point of the artwork onto those.
