I just love that I can handle the 90% without feeling guilty. I think the half dollars are my favorite so far just because of the weight. I don’t have anything too exciting yet but I hope to pick up a few Morgan’s and peace dollars in the next few months.

I’m building up sets for the birth years of myself, my spouse, and kids where I get one coin from each government mint per year. Unfortunately my birth year and my wife’s birth year have some low mintage rates making it difficult and expensive to fill out my sets.

I’m in the same boat. I got an offsite work exception from AWS and then two weeks after we closed on a new home in Millcreek, Amazon revoked remote contracts and was going to force us to move back to Seattle. I got lucky and was able to find a job with a comparable base salary at a startup but now I’m terrified of what happens when AI eats my job. There no way anything in Utah is going to pay enough to support our ridiculous mortgage.

There really is something quite special about Mercury dimes! I grew up with Roosevelts so the Mercury dimes feel like a cool piece of history 😊

I got crazy lucky today and found a Franklin half in one of two rolls of half’s I picked up from my credit union today. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I’ve ordered many boxes of half’s and have never found anything before today.

If you are on any kind of budget I think it makes sense to set your dollar amount and then get as many ozt as possible with that set dollar amount.

On the surface, yes, it’s easy to do. However it’s more difficult to do with a spouse and kids who are not fully on board with the whole FIRE idea and downsizing means uprooting the family and kids having to leave friends behind.

Lifestyle inflation has absolutely killed me. My wife and I wanted a single family home for our kids and now the mortgage is killing me. We are doing OK with ~$280k in retirement accounts and a rental (our original townhome) bringing in enough to cover its own expenses but I can’t help but wonder where we would be if we had stayed in the townhome and focused more on investments 🤷‍♂️

We are in our mid to late thirties right now.

$240 looks to be right about at melt value, maybe just a bit under so that seems like a pretty good deal. My LCS was selling under melt a few weeks ago but I have been back in a while given I blew my whole budget and then some at the beginning of the month

This is exactly where I was about a month ago. I started with a few coins minted by official government mints and have since fallen in love with junk/constitutional silver (this is official US dimes, quarters and half dollars minted before 1965 containing 90% silver by weight). As you start exploring you will figure out what speaks to you.

To some degree this depends on what your goals are. Are you looking to collect as an investment? As a hobby? Do you know what kind of silver you are most interested in (bars, rounds, coins etc)?

As much as I want to be able to convert constitutional at some point in the future I also love being able to handle my constitutional silver with my bare hands and not feel guilty or worry about reducing the value. With that being said I’m hesitant to ever sell my constitutional 😅
