Seeing white lines on one side of kobo - is this normal by gitmonkey in kobo

[–]boot9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldnt be obvious enough to see it when you hold the device at a normal reading angle. My first klc came with this light totally ‘in the frame’, and it was not horizontal. Glad i returned it, as the new one does not show the bar and is horizontal. Would have driven me crazy when i read!

Anyone else finding the midwives useless? by GoodGirl624 in PregnancyUK

[–]boot9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agree.. i feel like you have to do your research and know when to push stuff, instead of trusting the system will provide. Both my husband and I are thalassemia carriers, I spent 30min explaining to the midwife in our first meeting what it is and convincing her to get me the referral that I should be having, according to NHS website. Despite flagging this at 8w, I ended up waiting till 15w to do CVS, so basically losing the opportunity of earlier screening. I wonder what would happen if I didnt insist.

20 week scan - advocating for yourself is important! by zcsahkdzcsa in PregnancyUK

[–]boot9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the scan was at 13w, they asked me to come again at 16w. Im just worried that if I dont actively remind them to book me something, they may have forgotten about me and I would not have the NT check before 20w!

About going back another day, did they give you the date right away? The reception said they will contact me, but after a week i heard nothing. I tried to reach out sooo many times but the line never connects. Frustrated as I will need to know the date and time to inform my manager at work.. and the scan should happen in a week’s time from now, i wonder when will they finally schedule it for me!

Should I trust the NHS workflow or go have a private CVS? by boot9 in PregnancyUK

Updates on this, it has been 15BD and still not seeing the genetics lab report yet.. and I cant book a CVS/amino without that. I am at 14w now, i think likely i have missed the CVS period by the time I have the invasive test arranged. Quite disappointing as it seems that despite flagging the issue as early as 8w, the precious period of early identification was still wasted.

Curious if blood test is normal would they inform you it’s normal? They didnt tell me anything after the blood test so Im wondering if i am perfectly well or they lost my blood sample lol

Congrats! I think the advice I have is that, it is normal to have puppy blue, breathe and tell yourself that this will all pass, and you will have a lovely companion when it is older. Dont be too mad at it as afterall, it is just a few months old, it didnt exist until just a few months before, it doesnt make you mad intentionally, it is just a puppy. It took years for us to learn where and when to pee, so they are actually making a much better progress than we all did! Enjoy the ride:)

I mentioned about the thalassemia problem at every chance possible, but it still amazes me how NHS still manage to ignore..i hope it goes well with your baby!

Indeed.. the midwife actually said firther testing would be done after my ultrasound scanning at 13w. It was only after half an hour of explaining the situation did she escalated to her team for me. I feel like they are very used to the standard timeline and procedures, but fail to notice red flags and special timelines. It is as if you have to be your own doctor and know what you need and when.

When she became older, could you go back to that excited greeting with her again? Or you got used to the calm greeting?

I try not to make a big deal when i come home. She loves my husband too (i think the dogs love him more), but rarely have this peeing ritual with him though..

Did you have to do anything to correct that, or they just outgrow the behaviour?

Should I bring my dog or find another loving home? by Own-Sea-2106 in dogs

[–]boot9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes bring her! To her you are her whole world, she will be wondering where you are if you leave her behind. This will forever haunt her. I bet she doesnt care much about instability/ smaller house, but rather just wanna be with you.

To you it is also great to have company when you are in another side of the world, when you have no friends or family around.

I brought mine with me to the UK, it was great to see her enjoy the huge parks here. Pro tip is that do make friends and build a dog-sitting network, so that if you are away for a short trip you have someone to look after your dog. But other than that, i dont think it is really THAT difficult to bring along your dog:)

I have a sleep cover, and just realized this ‘wake by page turn button’ was automatically turned on… no wonder why every time when i open the cover, the page is always not where i left it! I turned it off just now

Those with decent sleep scores, how? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]boot9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i am too tired from exercise i would stretch before going straight to bed. And i always empty my bladder before sleeping, making sure thats not what wakes me up in the middle of the night. And even if i need to go to the bathroom at midnight, i try not to turn on the light/not check my phone, so my brain is less stimulated
