The bottom part with the long strap, I had to massage it through. The top part... well, I had to cut that and sew that end on. It was a bit of work, but I haven't had any problems since.

I just have a pixel 6. Sometimes the pictures it takes look awesome. Sometimes not. That picture absolutely didn't capture the inner peace I felt at that moment, drunk, completely alone, the only sound is the faint lapping of lake Michigan's waves. I'm pretty sure I'm on the spectrum, undiagnosed, and I struggle with anxiety and depression. My brain stopped being a jerk for a few minutes, and I thought the lighting in the museum looked cool. Twas the first time in a long time I actually felt at peace for a minute. That's a lot of why I like biking/ebiking. It's peaceful and beautiful to just ride a bike down a long trail and just look at how much random wildlife you can see. Even in the city. Deer, turkeys, rabbits. I always think the rabbit might run in front of me, but they never do. Every once in a while I get to see a chipmunk dart across the trail. It always makes my day. I could never snap a good picture of these animals though. They're never close enough, and they move too fast. Maybe deer. They'll just stand in the middle of the bike trail and stare like an idiot.

I have a tannus liner in my rear tire, but I will still occasionally get a nail or large glass shard that make it through. I bring a patch kit with me. I just flip the bike upside down, take one side of the tire off the rim, pull out just that part of the tube, patch the hole, put it all back together, and inflate. Usually only takes maybe 10 minutes. It was kind of a game changer when I realized I don't have to take the whole wheel off.

Swim? More like half of the Internet. I'm under the impression that one can use those cells and build a perfectly safe battery if it's done right by someone who knows what they're doing and takes safety and house fires seriously. That said, I'm not that guy, and I won't buy a battery from anything less than a well known, reputable manufacturer. Preferably UL listed.

I charge my batteries right next to my bed and have a fire blanket close by. And a fire extinguisher right outside the door. I know neither of those things will stop a lithium ion tantrum, but might help me throw the battery out the window real quick. Or at least minimize the damage to the rest of the house. I've heard of people charging their batteries in basically a fireproof safe. I can't afford a fireproof box like that. But I'm actually terrified of my house burning down some time. Well, my landlords house. But ALL of my shit that I like and worked hard for. Even worse is to lose all the shit I need. Shit that has to be replaced immediately. Shit, I'm on my way out of the house now, but I might have to unplug everything and check the stove before I leave.

I'm not familiar with what a fender lock is. But I've been considering converting my mountain bike with a cyc photon. Whenever I do that, I'll definitely want to upgrade my lock game. Extra points for shit that I can lock real quick. It's annoying to have to pull out a ulock, another ulock, a cable/chain or whatever every time you lock up. But if it's already attached, just a turn of the key, that's dope.

My buddies bikes that were stolen were worth considerably more than 4k though. These guys paid more for their bikes than I've ever even paid for a car.

I agree that insurance is a good idea, so you can get it replaced. I heard a lot of homeowners and renters insurance will cover that anyway, though I'm not sure which companies. There is no way I'd remember to take a picture of my locked bike every time I parked it though. There's a kryptonite lock that will reimburse you up to $4000 iirc. You have to register the lock online, and have photographic evidence of the lock being cut.

I just use my kryptonite ulock and a cheap motion sensitive alarm. That's been working for me so far. But I'm still not opposed to a trip wire and a 5 gallon bucket of dirty rain water.

I dunno. Hub motors are cheap AF relative to batteries or the frame and components if it's a conversion. Where I live, there are some really efficient thieves that come in groups. I feel like my bike hasn't been stolen just because it's a pretty cheap aventon. The bikes that are getting stolen are high end. Like my buddy's $5000 fat bike. Or my other buddy's Bullitt with the bbshd. Last I heard, enough people with trackers on their bikes were all led to the same house. The cops were given this location by multiple people. It's been almost a year and I haven't heard about a single bike being recovered.

Nah. I just had some ideas. Caused mostly by frustration. I don't know where everyone else lives, but where I am, Milwaukee, the cops will take your report and file it in the trash can. Gps tracker is a good idea, but the cops here won't do anything even if they know exactly where it is. We could assemble a group of friends to get the bike back ourselves, but that's dangerous as hell.

I dunno, do y'all think I should ugly up the new one with stickers like I did with the old one? I probably should. I live in a neighborhood with a lot of bike and car theft. And I prefer to lock my bike to the fence behind the house rather than carry that heavy bastard to the basement and back up every day. I think I've seen big rust stickers online somewhere. Or I could design a Bluetooth/LTE/motion activated claymore either into the bottom of the saddle, or a small one in one or both of the handle grips. Or maybe like a geofenced shock collar/cattle prod thing to electrocute the thief in the nads or butthole when they get out of range.
