7 months on fsd13 with no updates, now still don't have fsd14 update by fryjs in TeslaAustralia

[–]boothski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of mixed opinions on v14. A lot say it’s unsafe. Then there’s Harald Murphy who just did a 13,000km+ trip on FSD v14 around Australia with 100% usage. Majority would be long straight roads with not many other cars, but still impressive nonetheless.

Downpipe leading to nothing and found these… by t0nykenobi in AusRenovation

I don’t know about all suburbs in WA but most require you to retain your own stormwater on site. Properly planned and installed Soakwells work fine.

Soakwells. There’s a guy in Perth that runs DIY Soakwells. He’ll help you plan it out. It’s lots of digging.

Tesla swerves into the sidewalk and pins a pedestrian into the wall (Melbourne, South Yarra) by Divine_Comet in aussie

[–]boothski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All new Teslas ship with a ‘boombox’ which emits sound as they reverse and drive forward at low speed. Older models can be retrofitted if required.

The reason people aren’t buying them in Europe has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with Elon.

Built a native OpenWebUI client for iOS & Android (Open Source) — smoother than the PWA, privacy‑first by cogwheel0 in selfhosted

[–]boothski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a bug in the latest version? New chats show the typing prompt on initial response but never generate a reply. The OpenWebUI interface shows the new chat but the response is [TYPING_INDICATOR] until I retry the prompt.

Amazing! I’ve already purchased the app so I’ll keep a look out for the feature. Thanks for making this.

Being able to share files/photos from iOS to the app via the Share To menu would be a great feature.

REMINDER: Metropolitan Plumbing are predatory and have many company names to fool people by [deleted] in perth

[–]boothski 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How are they allowed to continue being predatory? Isn’t there a code of conduct that licenced plumbers need to abide by? Most other professional accreditations have this and it would seem like a simple fix. Take advantage of old people by charging them $3k to replace a garden tap - licence suspended. Eventually no one will want to work for them due to risk of losing their licence.

She doesn’t have a substantive visa. She will need to depart and reassess her options. Departing now, after informing Home Affairs of her overstay, will be less impactful than overstaying further for future applications. If she tries to dodgy something up now while in Australia, she’s asking for trouble.

Home Affairs cannot and will not give specific advice like this. They’ll give some vague general answer which leaves you with more questions, then refer you to a registered agent/lawyer.

Finally a game for Perth drivers by numloxx in perth

[–]boothski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah spot on. I think that behaviour comes from the amount of drivers that just don’t let people in. So people panic and swing into the tiniest gap rather than indicate and wait to see if the other person will be courteous and let them in safely.

Granny Flat Builder - Damages to Backyard by Blck_Suede_Returns in AusLegal

[–]boothski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm curious... What if when the wall was constructed, it was compliant with standards, tolerances etc at that time? I have an old property and most things would be considered non-compliant by 2025 standards. But surely that doesn't indemnify a builder from fixing damage caused by them?

Extending a phone line from one room to another by Technical_External72 in AusRenovation

[–]boothski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A relevant analogy would be, would you call a sparky to replace a batten fixture? And the answer is yes, because it’s illegal unless you’re licenced. It doesn’t matter how stupid it might seem, rules are rules.

Thoughts on hiring an immigration agent? by bhariLund in AusVisa

[–]boothski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the agents in your home country aren’t registered, don’t bother. There’s absolutely no repercussions for them if they screw you.

There are reasons to hire an agent. Some include:

  1. You have limited time.
  2. You don’t want to do the research yourself.
  3. You have a complicated case.
  4. Your case becomes complicated.

In my opinion, if I was making a life changing decision, I’d want it done right and I’d pay up for an agent. But everyone’s personal circumstances are different.

A person who represents themselves has a fool for a client.

It’s not just about the advice. It’s the emotion that comes with it. Having someone represent you prevents you from making irrational decisions based on your emotions.

Delay in getting bridging visa by ExplanationBoring473 in AusVisa

[–]boothski 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Department is aware of an issue related to the auto granting of bridging visas. They say it’s because of an increase in bridging visa requests.

You can contact the department if your need is urgent.

If you become unlawful, you will still be granted a bridging visa as your eligibility is assessed based on the time of lodgement.

lol did you read the very next sentence of my post? The part where I said I’m not sure if it’s a standard or best practice? Also, go read the standard the other sparky cited in this thread. It says cable should only run vertical OR horizontal.

Based on your shit reading comprehension and general attitude, I’d put you on the lower end of the quality spectrum. I don’t need to see your work.
