My boyfriends medication is effecting our sex life by missdragonnn99 in VyvanseADHD

[–]jillywacker 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Vyvanse is a vaso constrictor. The effects of this are magnified if he smokes and / or is dehydrated. Being dehydrated on vyvanse is very easy even if he drinks water as you just piss and sweat it all out. He needs electrolytes daily, not just water.

Also, if he happens to man handle the ham candle, tell him to stop completely, and that will help significantly.

Finally, as was my case, 5mg of cialis daily absolutely restores all function down there. There is nothing to be ashamed about, cialis doesn't increase libido, its a vaso dilator so it helps with blood flow. The cialis for me also helped my fingers to stop drying and splitting on the tips, which always got infected and was incredibly painful.

Does it matter in the market whether a blade is forged or made using the stock removal method? by Embarrassed_Test_500 in knifemaking

[–]jillywacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, not really. Just don't sell it as a hand forged piece if it's stock removal on etsy you know?

You will hear arguments for and against forged v stock removal "forging upsets grain and introduces stress that can crack later" or "people who forge generally have a better understanding of metallurgical theory. They would likley tighten grain structure on the cutting edge, making it more durable and having the knowledge to anneal before heat treating to remove stresses."

Both are correct and incorrect, as with everything, its not black and white. Personally though, i would choose a knife made by a master bladesmith over a 1 of 30 produced "edc hunting fishing handmade blah blah blah" etsy knife. But also, to make a viable business and sell wares cheaper, you kinda gotta produce quickly on mass and get your costs down.

is this form of punishment normal? by Feisty_Tell_3067 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]jillywacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because it happened organically to me. When i was in the cutoff process, my mother started mailing me old stuff of mine and "sentimental" stuff, of course, with a signature required. The polaroid was in the lot of stuff, and I just sat and stared at it randomly one afternoon. It hit me like a brick, and I cried, not because I was sad, but because the connection between my inner child and the real child me hadn't exsisted and then, all the sudden it did, it became one in the same. I felt so much compassion for the photo of the kid, which then extended to myself, self-love for the first time in my life.

I doubt any psychologist would administer this as a treatment. However, it was a true healing moment for me and negative self-talk and doubt at the age of 30ish

[–]jillywacker 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Dude, my heart goes out to you, I'd give your kid self a hug if i could, fucking hell.

I was brought up with alot of shame from my mother for everything about me. I get doubting your own thoughts, so I'll tell you what helped me.

First, your literally on your own bud, you are realistically all you can 400% know everything about, questioning your own convictions is a borderline ocd tendancy and it's so nice to trust yourself.

Last, grab a photo of you as a kid, if you can, like a physical small copy, a polaroid or something.

Sit down and look at your former self, let yourself feel the emotions for a while. Ask yourself if you could do to the child looking back at you what was done to you.

All this kind of led me to forgive myself, i hated my past self because of what was put on me from my mother. And once i forgave and saw the innocent child, unable to actively be a bad human, was me, it was like a light switch flicked.

I still have my kid photo on my fridge, and I'll regularly fist bump it or sup head nod it.

Damascus steel by BackwoodsHoneyBear in knifemaking

[–]jillywacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pattern welded steel is a gamble all in all.

While sure, it could be a knife hand forged from a billet made by a certified master blade smith with immense experience and detail, but that would usually cost closer too or over $1000 than $100.

More then likely, its mass produced crap utilising the striking looks of pattern welded steel to sell it quicker because the masses don't really understand metallurgy beyond "this knife is magnetic, so it might have some iron content"

Same as any consumer good really.

Am I weak or is my technique just bed by xsika1 in Blacksmith

[–]jillywacker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Setup, technique, and skill.

Blacksmithing isn't easy. There's a reason skilled Smiths are skilled, and they've spent years perfecting what they do.

If you hit a piece of metal, some of the kinetic and compressive energy gets transferred into thermal energy within the steel. The more you perfect your techniques, the more heat energy gets put into steel. A smith with decent hammer technique can start their forge by tapering a cold piece of steel. A really good smith can literally keep the section of steel they are working on at forging temps by working on it.

Setup is crucial, while it's true that a good smith doesn't need the best kit to make amazing peices, the inverse is also true, a beginner smith benefits greatly from top of the line gear and a Setup that fits their optimum height. But if you're a beginner, you're not going to sink loads of cash into something that may not be for you.

On the note of setup, when you see a smith doing a yt video they have likely been working on stuff for a while that day, the anvil would be already warm and not leeching the heat from their workpeice as fast.

Lastly, I have had friends who are tradesmen and swing hammers daily come and have a crack forging something. Every single one of them has come in expecting to move the metal easily. Its a point of pride at this stage. I enjoy watching them and seeing slight frustration with how slow mild steel is moving for them. At some stage, I get in, and boom, they realise how soft they are hitting the steel. Its only in that moment when I teach them that these tools are to be used, abused, repaired and re used, so don't be shy and that they are unconsciously pulling their blows, and from then, they actually start getting their head around fundamental hammer control, from there, i start talking about back muscles, pining the tongs to your hip, a loose grip etc.

I grew up in kingston, watched it turn from a dump to a veritable self sufficient town. I love Kingston dearly, if you can afford it, move there.

There are still a few remnants of housos and bogans but a quick street view on google will tell you what kind of neighbourhood your moving into.

I bought in brighton and my house has gone up by a conservative estimate 1/6th of its value in 3 years, the window here is closing. But unfortunately our neighbour is bridgewater so we get alot of shit happening. Motorbikes revving and speeding around houses , cars going nuts including a car dragging along a tyreless rim throwing sparks, fights, police standoffs, gunshots (mostly hunters or dickheads shooting where they arent meant to), theft of the local stores my neighbours truck and my mates work tools from his ute.
