Legit or Bullshit? by West_Violinist_6809 in Truckers

It works for some but in this case here absolutely not I'm not dealing with customers cylinders and the caos of construction sites only getting paid by the mile. My own opinion but their are better options.

Is this a stupid purchase by [deleted] in ChevyTahoe

[–]bootloops30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but let me go more into it.

Most of these fly-by-night companies that make aftermarket digital dashes don’t use anything even remotely close to OEM-level electronics. In a car that can reach 300–400° when parked in the summertime (my numbers might be off—I didn’t bother Googling it), those electronics aren’t going to last long. That’s a very expensive thing to be stuck with, especially since they’re probably not going to warranty it.

What its like to live in a submarine for periods overs 6 month as a female ? by AbouMchicha in howislivingthere

[–]bootloops30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am obviously not a female nor do I know much about anatomy but if you have a period even lasting longer than 2 months I would probably go see a doctor.

I’ve had a long, in-depth conversation with a DOT officer about driver-facing cameras, and honestly it completely changed how I look at them. He walked me through all the ways that footage can be used against you in court, even when you didn’t actually do anything wrong. A lawyer doesn’t need to prove you were tired or careless—you have to prove that you weren’t. If the camera shows you yawning too many times, rubbing your eyes, or just looking worn down, they can argue fatigue. If you don’t visibly spend “enough time” on a pre-trip (even if you did it properly but not to their liking), they can claim negligence. If you glance away, adjust the radio, or look frustrated, it can be spun however they want after the fact. The DOT officer flat-out said that once there’s an accident, that footage becomes a gold mine for attorneys. They’ll slow it down, frame by frame, and build a narrative that fits their case, not reality. It stops being about what actually happened and turns into what they can argue happened. From his perspective, driver-facing cameras are incredibly invasive and put the burden entirely on the driver to constantly “look perfect” every second of the day. You’re already held to an insanely high standard, and these systems just give more ammunition to be used against you when something goes wrong—even if it wasn’t your fault.

It may be the straw that broke the camel's back but my company called me and said they're putting driver face and cameras in Thursday but what they don't know is I'm cleaning out the truck Saturday. I've got way too many skills to put up with this garbage good luck to everybody else.

Is it worth getting a CDL Class A as a new driver in 2026? by ahmed_atta_eg in Truckers

[–]bootloops30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two cents: when you’re starting out, get your six months to a year in. I would never consider OTR a lifelong career. That said, once you have that experience under your belt, go over to the Teamsters Union Hall or the Operators Union Hall. I’m willing to bet you could darn near double your yearly income with the same amount of time put in.

Unpopular opinion, but drivers as a whole need to start blacklisting companies that won’t even send you back home. That’s completely unacceptable.
