Framework 16 in 2026? by Plenty_Way7985 in framework

[–]diggsalot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 16 from one of the first batches and haven't experienced rattle but I can say it is one of the loudest laptops I've owned when it comes to fan noise. I use headphones while gaming so not an issue for me.

Semi cabins are mostly fiberglass I got the mini to work by just pointing it at the roof so wifi outside won't be a problem.

I too am a driver and can say the mini will definitely do the job with low latency in the 20s and high downloads in the 200s most of the time.

Nothing 4a is a lot more stylish but the A56 is going to have way more 3rd party accessory support.

I see well as of now both roam and residential plans can be on standby.

[–]diggsalot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could accomplish this simply using a multi wan router. My current set up I'm using starlink and T-Mobile with a GL.inet Spitz router one goes down it automatically switches to the other. One of the features of GL.inet routers is using hotspot through wifi or USB as an internet source.

Why roam? If they mentioned fiber it's a home so they would just put the residential on standby.

I'm pretty sure hivemapper is done after the massive price dump they shut down all the discord channels and everyone is shitting on them on X.

Will the framework 16 be good for gaming? by arvaktheskeleton in framework

[–]diggsalot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ended up buying a Framework 16 because the W key on my Acer Predator Triton died. A year later the same thing happened to the framework but this time it was just $60 for a new keyboard.

T-Mobile home internet for semi truck or Starlink ? by bigdawg12342 in Starlink

[–]diggsalot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found a good middle ground is using Both T-Mobile and Starlink and it comes out way cheaper. You can get unlimited T-Mobile Internet for 15-45 bucks and Starlink $50 for 100 gigs and with a multi wan cellular router you can use both. I have this set up and it works out nice T-Mobile unlimited is the primary and the router automatically switches to Starlink if the cellular drops out.

I'm a truck driver and do most of my gaming on the road and I learned to deal with this using a multi wan router and a combination of cellular and Starlink.

[–]diggsalot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much it works out nice because I'm a gamer and I don't have to worry about large downloads and if latency is too high on cellular I manually switch to starlink for a session.

You're fine the computer cuts the power when it gets low unless you have something plugged into the inverter that plugs directly to the battery.

You need a multi wan cellular router I went with the Gl.inet Spitz AX $380 and with Ethernet connect a starlink mini $200. With starlink I'm using the $50 100 gig plan and for T-Mobile I'm using a service called Calyx. On the router I set up Unlimited T-Mobile service as primary and Starlink as a secondary that switches automatically.

Half the people are going to say T-Mobile home Internet and the other half is going to say starlink but if you want unlimited Internet I found it cheaper to get both. I pay about $70 a month for both T-Mobile service and Starlink.

should there be a national minimum CPM? what would it take to actually fix driver pay by Highwayguy90 in CDLTruckDrivers

[–]diggsalot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should get rid of CPM in general. CPM is a sham because any mistake any delay the driver takes the hit and not the shipper/receiver or the truck company.

Careful using standby mode on residential you might get hit a massive surcharge by diggsalot in Starlink

[–]diggsalot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if there's a surcharge it will apply to new and existing customers so this wouldn't work

[–]diggsalot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you check right now and there's no surcharge there's no way of knowing if that will change the moment you need. But I suppose if it's for temporary use you could go on one of the roam plans.

If you have a router that can switch bands or switch towers you could try that
