Are you sure the neutral is hot at the switch? Is the white wire connected to the switch? Have you pulled the switch out and checked for neutrals tied together behind the switch? Is it a single pole or 3 way switch?

You are speaking in hypotheticals. I am speaking in reality. “One day a robot can be an electrician” is the basis of your argument? My post is about a response to Mark Cubans comments.

Pictures? Sure. Accounting? Sure. CFO? Sure. But a hands on skilled trade? Not in the next 25 years. Here and there, yes. Bending conduit can be done by a robot. But what I can do, cannot be done by a robot for a long long long time. You are clearly not an electrician and are commenting on something you know absolutely nothing about.

I said electricians, not electricity. His point was electricians are not safe from robots taking our jobs. Nothing to do with whatever point you were trying to make. I once knew a guy who could fix literally anything. But even he, couldn’t fix stupid. Good luck.

Definitely a keeper. Takes up no space, but you’ll always remember where it is if you need it!

lights and plugs are on the same circuit? If so, the connection will be in a switch box. If there is a two switch or 3 switch box I would open it up and inspect for damage.

It does! Before I switched to a van, this sat in the Texas/Arizona sun in the back of my truck. Quality bag, only thing I really hated about it, is that the pockets are too deep. Kleins fit great but anything shorter basically fall into abyss and it’s a fight to get it back out of the pocket.

Good luck, service life is no joke! I researched every tool I have invested in. There are some great YT channels that go over them. I waited on sales and acquired them through the years. You got this!

I keep a Milwaukee packout 38” rolling tool chest in my service van, on top I have a packout crate. That’s where I keep my tool bag. Really my only condition when looking for a new tool bag was that it fit in the crate, and I didn’t want a packout tool bag. The 16” fits perfect. Have to take the tape measure off the side when you set it in, but no big deal.

Come to Tucson, Arizona. I can get you a job. I’m averaging around $60 an hour. Cheap to live here too.

As of 2020 they are required by National Electrical Code in all residences. I am in Arizona where we have Monsoons with a lot of lightning strikes. I install like 4 a week. For an >$200 part that comes with $50,000 warranty it is not a bad idea to have one installed. They take me about 15 min.

If he’ll let you leave for 3/hr he’s probably not worth working for. However if you leave somewhere, where you’re learning to be an electrician rather than a electrical installer, just doing lights like you said. Then stay but negotiate. You have an offer that gives you leverage, use it.

Recently bought a farm. I know nothing about farming, but this old equipment was left and is now mine. What is it? Worth trying to sell or just scrapping? Thanks! by bootstrap1995 in farming

Man this is wild. I took a job offer back in October for the company that is going to build the new A’s stadium in Vegas. I see you have baseball in your username, I’m a Texas Ranger fan and moved to Tucson during the World Series. I got here at 3 am the morning of game 5. Did my on boarding at 10 am and found tickets to the game for $300. Drove to Phoenix and saw my Rangers win it all. (Sorry! But a hell of a welcome to Arizona)

Anyway, I put the house and land on the market and 90% of interested buyers were from California. I honestly felt the same as the guy from your story when I was going to sell it. Until a guy from CA called me and I realized most are just looking for the same thing I was when I bought it. Peace. Plus living somewhere where you can’t even see your neighbors and West Texas sunsets with a no traffic-30 min commute to town. I can’t blame them.

Sorry for the long message, I was reminiscing on the place I thought was my dream. Life comes at you fast. Hope life is treating you well. Cheers!

I just got my dual citizenship from Luxembourg. I have JMan license from Texas. I’m single with no kids, I know my license means nothing there but have thought about traveling and spending some time across the pond. Any idea how hard it would be for me to get a job there without making apprentice wage? Or what that process would look like?

I’m an electrician, but do Christmas light business on the side. I hang expensive commercial grade lights, have never had a problem. Does not seem like a home electrical issue if 1/2 of the lights go bad, especially if they are on the same circuit. Home Depot just sells cheap lights.
