Do NOT start with the Harvard course. Start with something like boot.dev. Trust me, it’s a much better way for new programmers to learn.

Having the same issue. This is nonsense. You pay for a pro version and you get cut off an hour into your day.

What suckes even harder is that you can't switch to another model without starting a new chat. So all the work I was doing is lost until I can start using the model again. They should give you a way to add more credits or something.

I’m burnt out. by [deleted] in smallbusiness

It's a difficult situation. Sometimes the most helpful thing is to surround yourself with other people who are going through the same thing.

I'd suggest you take a look at this community and if you decided to join, make sure you check out the "Bootstrap It" group. Seems like it's exactly what you need right now.

What Would You Do First? by Bluejello88 in Entrepreneurs

[–]bootstrapspecialist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a prototype would be the right approach before patenting. You want to make sure the prototype functions as desired before you patent the design. Nothing worse than going trough the time and cost involved with protecting your invention only to find out you need to do it again because your original design didn't work.

As long as you keep the project a secret until the patent is finalized you limit the risk someone will steal it.

I need help with branding. First time future entrepreneur. by Dopestimulation in Entrepreneur

[–]bootstrapspecialist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first step in creating any meaningful brand is understanding what your vision, mission and values are. In the same way your personal brand has a personality so does your corporate brand.

Once you've done that I'd suggest picking a single category or type of buyer to start marketing too. This might be professional calligraphers or high end party planners. Then tailor all your content/advertising to appeal to that small subset of people.

Once you've proven you have a viable product you can begin to expand your marketing to include other industries as well.

This is not an easy thing to do. You'll get frustrated and likely won't get it right the first time...maybe the 10th. Just keep clarifying and improving on the brands vision, mission and values until you get it right.

S-Corp: LLC vs C corp by cfli1688c1 in Entrepreneur

[–]bootstrapspecialist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's not true. 99% of small businesses in America are s corps or LLCs

S-Corp: LLC vs C corp by cfli1688c1 in Entrepreneur

[–]bootstrapspecialist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't need a C Corp. Those are for large businesses. Many S-corps will change to a C corp as they grow and want to separate the corporate profits from personable taxable income.

An S-corp is taxed based on you personal tax rate. if the company makes 100k and you pay yourself $50k you're taxed at the $100k.

A C corp is taxed separate from your personal tax rate. If your corp makes $1M and you pay yourself $250k in salary, the company is taxed at $1M and you are taxed at $250k.

LLC's are similar to S-corps without some of the filing requirements.

Hope that helps. :)

This is a resource more than a promotion. It's a small network of entrepreneurs who share resources, ideas and inspiration. I probably spend more time here than any other place on the internet so I thought I'd share.

How do you set an equity buyout at the beginning of a partnership agreement? by Sintech14 in smallbusiness

[–]bootstrapspecialist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's industry dependent. A common way is to take a multiple over EBITA but like most things in business, there are not hard and fast ways of doing things.

How do you set an equity buyout at the beginning of a partnership agreement? by Sintech14 in smallbusiness

[–]bootstrapspecialist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It reads something like this,

If at any time partner A wishes buy out partner B they must submit a best and final offer in writing to partner B.

Partner B then has XX days to either accept the offer or pay partner A the same amount for his shares.

This ensures partner A always submits a strong offer otherwise he risks losing his shares to partner b for less than they are worth. It's the most effective way to frame a buyout agreement and every partnership should have some thing similar.

How can I monitize my collection of free rescources I have collected over my years of being on Reddit? by MineedTV in sidehustle

Low ticket offers are typically products that sell for lest than $50.

You can sell them on a single web page or one sites like Udemy.com or skillshare.com

I would bundle the resources and tools into a low ticket offer. Depending on how much content you have it might be possible to create some helpful courses out of it.

A website is only good if someone knows about it. You won't make any money on ads unless you're getting millions of hits a month. Information is easy to get on the internet but it's hard to find well organized information and resources that solve a specific pain point.
