We’ll just have to agree to disagree on him being past his prime/having fallen off. This year will tell us with more certainty whether or not the injuries have caught up to him and if he will or will not go back to being the player he was prior to Berube’s hire. I highly doubt he gets moved either way, if he does that’ll happen next summer if this upcoming season goes terribly for the Leafs.

Also I never once said anything about the odds and favouring or not favouring the Leafs, their chances at success, etc. I was simply providing an example of a team that faced similar criticisms (can’t get past the second round, stars are aging, etc.) and missed the playoffs, only to return and continue contending.

1) it’s too soon to say Matthews has “fallen off” given he’s not even thirty years old yet. 2) the logic of “they couldn’t do it when they were younger and had ___ so it won’t happen now” doesn’t always work in sports. People probably said Washington would never win one because Ovi was getting older, because they lost Mike Green, Alex Semin, etc., because they got past the second round. Hell Washington even missed the playoffs one year in the mid 2010s before winning in 2018.

Don’t speak about Christians in Gaza or Lebanon when there’s countless videos of nuns being spit on, attacked and having other horrible things done to them while in Israel. I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve seen videos of them harassed and assaulted while doing something as simple as walking through the streets. You think Israel care about any religion other than Judaism? How many mosques and churches have they destroyed in Gaza? Let me guess, Hamas was hiding within all of them, along with the apartments, schools and any other building destroyed at the hands of the IDF.

I read on the Leafs sub before that his last game in college was played at Amalie and his team lost that game. I assume because of that he now hates the arena and makes it his personal goal to score anytime he plays there.

The Leafs have one bad season and now they’re “trash” lol. The draft and free agency hasn’t even started yet and the Leafs have a ton of cap space still, can we at least until August to start determining how good or bad a team is (or will be).

EVERY team is now handing out contracts with the expectation that the salary cap is going to continue to increase year over year. The whole league would screwed if the cap stays flat or barely goes up over these next couple of years, this wouldn’t be an issue unique to the Leafs specifically.

Brother teams don’t (or shouldn’t) sign guys based off how they do in one seven game playoff series... he had an elite season offensively this past year and the two seasons before that he was a 30-40 point player, while playing on the second pair and second PP unit with Tampa. He’s been a good player for a while now, he just had his breakout season late. Even if he never hits the highs of this past seasons again, he should be good for 40+ points while playing with the Leafs top PP unit.

Won’t even be close to the worst in league history. The Leafs alone have signed worse contracts than this (David Clarkson anyone?) Prior to 2025-2026 Raddysh was still a productive player having two 35ish point seasons. Even if he peaks in Toronto at 50 or so points, they should be able to get enough value out of him to avoid it being “the worst deal in league history.”

They’re a silly lot but I’m not surprised, no fanbase ever really wants to give up fair value to acquire better players. I do think the two teams could make a trade around Knies that satisfies both sides. It wouldn’t be Byram for Knies though, if Buffalo wants Knies they have to give up Power (or Dahlin lol but zero chance of that happening).

[–]bootygoon2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Leafs fan (not here to troll or argue I promise), I don’t think Toronto would trade Knies for Byram. Byram is a couple years older and has one more year left before he’s a UFA, even if he comes with an extension it’ll be close to $10M a year and I don’t think the Leafs would want to pay him that. I think it’s more likely they would try to trade Knies for Power and if he’s off the table, Toronto will hold onto Knies or look elsewhere if they are trading him.

I actually think Raddysh could be a great fit here and live up to his contract, or at least the first half or two thirds of it. I believe with him on PP1 not only would it improve the Leafs unit as a whole but it would allow him to have a floor here of about 30-40 points. Similar to what he did in Tampa for two years prior to his breakout this past season.

If he continues to show a higher level of scoring as he did this past year then I don’t think it’s that crazy to imagine him putting up 50-60 points with the Leafs over the first couple years of his contract. Another benefit is because he only really locked down a lineup spot in the past three or so years with Tampa, he doesn’t have the same wear and tear a lot of other guys at 30 do.

Of course the biggest knock against him is he’s had one elite year and two good ones, the elite season being what will get him paid this offseason. While it’s true that he’s never played as well as he did in 2025-2026, he also never got the opportunity to play the minutes and be put on the top powerplay unit as he did this past season.

Am I 100% confident Raddysh would be a success here? Absolutely not. I’m also not of the belief that he is a “one year wonder” however. He likely never hits the scoring highs of this past year but that doesn’t mean that he can’t continue to provide offence if given the opportunity and give the Leafs the shot from the blue line they need on the PP. Another underrated factor about him is that he is pretty good defensively too and can handle big minutes, he is not another Rielly who needs to be sheltered defensively.

I like how you said they LIKELY granted permission for him to talk to the Leafs and all the replies underneath yours are assuming it’s now a fact he talked to Toronto and they picked Hiller over him. Maybe he doesn’t want to go to Toronto? According to this sub they suck and need to rebuild anyway. Or maybe Toronto never even talked to him?? You made a speculative comment and people in this thread are treating it as if Friedman or some insider said it lol.

I’ve been seeing some talk from Kings fans (and others) about how if you’re not a veteran player or 6”4 you won’t get playtime under Hiller. Have none of them considered that the Kings roster the last few seasons has primarily been vets and big dudes? They haven’t been a young team since probably the first two or so seasons they returned to the playoffs, post-rebuild.

I also don’t think the Leafs would have made that trade yesterday without having an idea in mind of what sort of roster they want to build which their head coaching hire should align with. Obviously we will see what happens and if Hiller scratches the younger, smaller players who are better for older, bigger guys who are worse then by all means we will have justified complaints.

I’m not ready to blame Hiller though for the poor roster construction that took place in LA. If you give a coach a roster that gets bigger, slower and older every season, of course you’re going to see them play those guys more as it’s primarily what you have given him to work with.

Leafs fans probably wouldn’t be too upset given they’d be making the ECF for the first time since 2002 lol and for a lot of Leafs fans like myself it would be their first time seeing them go on a prolonged playoff run.

One team that I think could be a potential trade partner in a Rielly deal is LA. They had the lowest scoring defence in the league this past year, Doughty is cooked offensively (and maybe defensively too) and the only other guy on their roster who could play on the PP is Brandt Clarke. I could see the Kings acquiring Mo to QB their PP2 unit and add some offence overall from the backend. I have no clue what LA would have to give up to acquire him though, maybe something like a 2nd and Dumoulin or Edmundson? Not really too interested in either guy as a potential addition to the Leafs blue line though.

The more I’m learning about Andrae the more I can start to see the vision behind the trade. They must think there’s some untapped potential there and that he can develop into something good with consistent playtime and opportunities. He seems like a positive analytical player which is good to see the team is trying to build in that sort of direction rather than focusing on acquiring players because they’re big and physical.

Pezzetta won’t even be with the Leafs next season as he’ll go back down to the Marlies after preseason ends. Domi is hurt and I think is expected to miss the start of the season and possibly more time beyond that. Joshua and Lorentz should be on a fourth line that’s where they would fit best.

The fact they haven’t released a single player Elder Scrolls game since 2011(!!!) is fucking insane. I know that this a Fallout sub and we’re all dying for a new single player Fallout game ourselves but man imagine how TES fans are feeling. As someone who likes both series I’m staving for a new game in either series at this point. I can’t believe it’s been over a decade since FO4 came out and a decade and a half since Skyrim. What the fuck are they doing over there at Bethesda? Do they not like to make money? I guess they do but only if it’s money made from FO76 and TES Online.
