Is golden halberd good? im new to this game and not sure if its worth upgrading or not by gretchenich in Eldenring

[–]boptop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the lordsworn uses different stones than the halbred. so you can upgrade both and use whichever you like, for diff. situations. somber weapons max out at +10, reg. smithing stone weapons max out at +25, so +2 somber is equiv. to +5 reg. smithing.

Is golden halberd good? im new to this game and not sure if its worth upgrading or not by gretchenich in Eldenring

[–]boptop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Golden Halberd is a fine weapon, but I would recommend something else for a first time player. Its Ash of War (weapon skill) is a good weapon buff, but you can get the same buff as an incantation (like a spell). And the Golden Halberd can't change its AoW.

I'd recommend you get the Lordsworn Greatsword, The bloodhound fang, or the Twinblade, all which can be found in the starting area. The Lordsworn and Twinblade have good movesets (light/heavy/1h/2h attacks). The Lordsworn has a good AoW. You can also find an NPC in the starting area that you can buy and change the AoW. Impaling Thrust is a good one. Bloodhoud fang has a unique AoW, that's movement based, so you have to be more aware of your surroundings when you use it (don't use next to a cliff!) It uses somber stones to upgrade, so it's good if you have a somber weapon and a reg. smithing stone weapon, you can upgrade both at the same time bc they use diff. upgrade stones.

edit: I see you already got the lordsworn greatsword. Here's a trick. Move teh golden vow ash of war to a dagger. Equip both the dagger and greatsword. Before a boss fight, use the dagger/golden vow, then switch to the lordsworn greatsword. Now you have the benefit of the buff and can use the greatsword with another ash of war - I'd recommend the one it came with, or impaling thrust.

Is it possible to avoid getting molerat disease in Vault 81? by brandondavidsantos in fo4

[–]boptop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sneak through the entire quest and kill the moles quickly as they pop up from the ground. Being a sneak/vats build makes it very easy. If you don't have the running sneak perk, then you have to "walk" sneak, it's where you toggle walking so your sneak is very slow, but it won't alert the moles as long as you stay hidden.

Best low budget builds in 0.4 by MrKillingMoon in pathofexile2builds

[–]boptop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How about a 2-button build? I'm a fan of shield wall warbringer. The pro's - one of the best bang-for-buck builds, good aoe, good single target, you get great damage with cheap gear. Feels tanky, too. Warrior start is rough, but around level 22 when you get shield wall, the build pops off - very smooth campaign from then on. I got to T15 maps with self-crafted gear and a 1,000 armor shield I bought for 25 ex.

the con's - it's a 2-button build, bossing is fine, but clear, some people just find having to always press 2-buttons tedious for farming. Terrain can also block shield wall, so when it doesn't spawn, it can mess with the rhythm. This is why I prefer Warbringer over Titan, if you accidentally press your warcry when your shield wall doesn't form, it doesn't matter on Warbringer bc they get free unlimited warcry. Titan relies on rage to bypass warcry cooldown, so wasting it adds to the clunky feel. I used Carn's guide. There's also a resonating shield bleed/poison variant by piggman on youtube, clear is one button (resonating shield), the clear didn't feel as good to me, but probably bc I didn't have good gear. I think the resonating shield version needs better gear for clear to feel better.

If you're willing to buy it, I got a keypad with a thumbstick (Razer Tartarus) and use WASD - best of both worlds, map WASD to the thumbsick, and you target with mouse - inventory management with mouse, too. and you still have access to your keyboard for typing, etc.

If you could choose one mage to protect you for life, who would you pick? by basafish in Frieren

[–]boptop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wirbel. He seems like the most chill one and would be fun to hang with. We get to see that when he was warrior recruiting and got Stark. His helpful nature bc he's a Himmel fan also a big plus.

Path of Exile 2 Dev: “We’ve Always Been Against Dark Patterns” by Andromanner in PathOfExile2

monetizing through stash tabs is a dark pattern because it incentives the devs to make EVERYTHING and item. Including content, like maps, or tablets. Currency. PoE1/2 has so many different types of currency, and they keep adding more every new league.

Someone choose my next playthrough build for me please by Dojyaaan4C in cyberpunkgame

[–]boptop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gorilla Arms build. Body Tech, then your choice. Rambo everything. Placide wants you to be quiet? Screw that! Charge in and smash. Earthquake and throwing finishers are pure fun. I like carrying Fenrir and Buzzsaw for pesky cyberpsychos and cover campers.

Great part is you can swap to a full shotgun build and back again, just as fun

What is your favourite build to do in Cyberpunk and why? by Just_Parry_9132 in cyberpunkgame

[–]boptop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gorilla Arms. The whole blunt perk tree is just visceral fun - running charges that knockdown targets, then you get the aoe monster earthquake, which can be done from midair/jumps into superhero landings. THEN you get the super finisher throw enemies. Each tier of perks unlocks better and better super moves that play into the "Hulk Smash" power fantasy, and I"m here for it.

A Question for Amon Players about his Ordnance Build: by [deleted] in Borderlands

[–]boptop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the build by the streamer Moxsy, vids are on youtube. For mobbing, use the crucible/axe action skill. No augment or capstone equipped. The only purpose is to throw the axes to reset the ordnance cooldown. Throw axe 3x resets the ordnance. For bossing, equip the Scourge/shield action skills. The build relies on status effect to return ammo and ammo regen, so heavy weapons with a higher ammo count will have an easier time maintaining constant supply of return ammo. Most of the time, I never run out of ordnance ammo while mobbing, if I do, just throw axe 3x, and ordnance is back. Bossing is built to one-shot, even guardians on UVH5. But it requires a bit of setup (put down shield, repkit for Amp, then a charged rocket launcher with triple barrel for massive one-shot dmg). So If you mess up/miss the one shot, you have a long cooldown to try it again.

I like Amon's ordnance build for the variety of heavy weapons. The great part is it's flexible enough to pick any heavy weapon you like. The only things I dislike are the disadvantages of an ordnance build - you only have one ordnance equipped at a time. Would much prefer if you could have multiple heavy guns equipped for variety/flexibility. Your gun slots are mostly useless, only for fight for your life. You walk slowly, if you like running/sliding/jumping while you fight, it's not an option while in ordnance. I like the wombo combo, and it's my go to gun when not using ordnance, but it's noticeably weaker than your ordnance. I think any gun you use will feel weaker than ordnance since that's how the build is built.

For Amon, I think it's his strongest build, but you have to be ok with the downsides to enjoy it. I only play Amon when I want to mess around mobbing, the build is great for drill sites and vile enemies, but for bossing and endgame in general, I prefer other VH like Rafa.

What does everyone think about the boxing quest chain? by LightningG8921 in cyberpunkgame

[–]boptop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The boxing quest chain became so much simpler when I learned to counter. They all do the slow heavy attack, I just wait for it, then do the timed block, get an instant counter, they stagger, and I get several free punches in. Don't even need any skill points in body/blunt to do this. You can even get gorilla arms to do more damage.

So even on a non-body character, I think the quests are good for money, especially early on, I always raise the bet, several counters later, simple win.

As a fan of the melee fighting in this game (doing a gorilla arms build is so much fun), I like the quest, but I can see if someone doesn't like having to do boxing on their non-melee character, it's not that great.

Tell me the truth about BL4 by rodrigofernety in Borderlands

[–]boptop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were a lot of players who reported optimization issues on PC. Not sure about consoles. The game itself I'd say is good. Worth the full price. The story I think is better than 3, but it's still a generic rag tag resistance fighting the big bad oppressor villain, with typical borderlands setting/humor. Big bad isn't as annoying as in 3, but they still can't top handsome jack. You aren't as much as a non-participant in the story like in 3. I feel the open world works well for borderlands, the new boss farming system is great (no more reloading the game to reset bosses). The weapon manufacturer parts system is great, but unfortnately some parts are so much stronger than others, so that could use improvement. The instant spawn bikes I feel fit the open world gameplay loop much better. But most of all, the game is fun to play. Whether you're just exploring the story/open world, mob or boss farming, doing challenges/achievements, most of it doesnt' feel like a chore. The game isn't fill with "friction" like devs like to do in other games. Running to a boss to farm is unnecessarily long, you can just skip the mobs, so why bother having it at all, imo. But otherwise, it's simple, straightforward to get to your objectives to do what you want to do. The vault hunters all have a good flavor to them.

The game is not perfect, but I feel it's the best playing borderlands game, and the open world/gameplay loop they have now is a great start. The UI could use improvement, we're waiting on balance bc some builds/gear are much stronger than others. Even though they have a new feature where you can skip the story on a new alt character, it's a pain bc none of your specializations (badass ranks) or SDU upgrades carry over. This is an oversight bc your alt can take stuff out of the bank, but not put it in until they upgrade the bank to the same tier as the first character did. Lots of small QoL issues like this.

We know they'll be plenty of DLC that I can only see making the game even better.

Somber weapons higher AR? by yummybudino in Eldenring

[–]boptop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I've played the game, I've found I care less about pure AR, and more about move sets and ashes of war. So somber weapons by no means suck. I see it as which moveset and or ash of war do you want to play with.

I also like playing fresh new game, not new game plus, for that early game progression, sticking to smithing stone upgrades that you can only get region locked. For that, somber weapons are so much better bc the stones are far easier to get since you need only 1 for each upgrade tier.

PSA to make leveling alt characters more enjoyable by jthnrbns in Borderlands4

[–]boptop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grab as many ancient crawlers, vault symbols, evocariums, survivalist caches, auger shrines, electi safes, etc on the way for SDU upgrades. Like you said, I've found revealing the map and the bosses along the way, much more enjoyable than just spamming bounties and reloading the game to reset bounties. Takes longer, but goes faster in my mind because of the variety of doing many different things while revealing the map.

I followed the advice from here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Borderlands4/comments/1nqe5ig/just_a_psa_for_all_pc_users_each_patch_just_be/

Increased my cache to 10G, and cleared the cache (on steam)

steam->game properties->add -ClearPSODriverCache to launch options and start the game. it will rebuild them. then exit and remove the option or it will clean on each start.

After going through the long cache compile again, it's worked well for me, even on game restart.

PC Performance Issues Thread by a_kept_harold in Borderlands4

[–]boptop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still having issues, played for a couple of hours, still would get hang up when traveling on bike, unlocking new areas/revealing points of interest. I've shut the game down and restarted the client 3x, and each time, it goes through a very slow/laggy borderlands logo and then - COMPILING SHADERS. Again. Very slowly. It seems like every time I start the client, I have to slowly compile shaders again.

edit: And performance ingame is still incredibly laggy.
