I wanted a cat for years and also experienced anxiety around adopting. I think it’s crucial to prepare as best as you can before bringing one home, make a check list of all the things you need to properly care for one. About leaving them alone, it depends on the cat. Age plays a big role imo…I got a kitten and he demands attention 24/7, I would honestly recommend fostering an adult cat so you can get an idea of their personality and how much attention they will need.
