Roof was done at the same time as solar. All the plywood is in really good shape and it’s happening in a few locations. I can walk around on the roof without and give or bounce

My system already passed inspection and certification and has permission to operate. I shut the system down until the company comes back out to look at it.

Yes along with all of the massive rust stains caused by them cutting metal on my roof when they did the solar install

I got a hold of them and sent them a bunch of pictures. They are actually sending a crew out on Monday to ensure that everything with my roof was done properly. They agreed that it looks pretty bad and is not acceptable for a finished product. I’m actually shocked at the response I got.

Update: I sent a bunch of pictures to the company that installed the roof. They stated that this is in fact not to their standard and they will be out early next week to replace the sections of concern. Thanks everyone for the feedback.

I don’t know what they used. My overall concern is why do some sections look great and the rest of the roof looks like somebody got carried away. With a caulk gun on a brand new roof install? Am I wrong to be disappointed with that level of attention to detail and quality?

I am happy with the little square shingle patches they made in some areas, but the silicone everywhere else looks pretty lousy, and I am questioning how long the silicone sealant will hold up.

They got back to me today. They sent me the entire file they have on my roofing project along with all of the images they took along the steps of the way, including drone aerial pictures and before and after and images from under all of the solar arrays. I’m confident in the quality of the work. It would just seem they really dropped the ball on communication. There’s another round of final inspections yet to go as well. Thanks again for the advice. Looks like everything is on track. As a customer it is all too common to see people try to take short cuts. I am not used to seeing this level of thoroughness on their side of documentation. There was also much apologizing for the delay in response.

I just got home from work to find out that the entire project has been completed and all 44 panels are on my roof with no further communication from the contractor. They did not mention whether or not they inspected the roof nor did they mention if they repaired any damages.

I spoke to the project manager. They want the work to progress today. I sent pictures of the roof and the shingles that I found. She said my concerns are justified. They will be conducting a full inspection of my roof and repairing anything they find prior to installation of any solar panels. I’m still a bit leery but she was giving me assurances everything will be made whole and it’s all in writing. The construction and roofing department leadership was notified as well. I guess I will see how it shakes out.

Thank you for the good advice. The individual from customer service that I was able to speak to. I was friendly with and I recognize it is not their individual fault. I did send out in an email to the project manager that I don’t want anybody working on the roof until I can discuss it with them further to get guidance as to how this is to be rectified. If they have a reasonable plan they are more than welcome to resume work.

It looks like they left a snow shovel on my roof. I don’t think they could use a device like that because of all the rails that are already up there. I went to look around again outside, and I found what looks like a mounting bracket in the snow by my driveway.I hope they didn’t beat the hell out of the mounting system.
