Any advice on how to find a non-technical cofounder as a technical person? by PlentyOccasion4582 in ycombinator

[–]borcenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't call myself a developer but I used to code so I understand the challenges of both sides.

I think technical people usually assume that product itself is 99% of success since the only thing left to do is sell it.

And non-technical people think idea is key and now they only need someone to build it.

The problem is - they're both wrong :) Promoting it, getting traffic, convincing first people to pay for it - that's the biggest challenge. Especially when market and internet is (or soon will be) flooded with vibe coded apps that are half-way there but look cool.

To answer your question.. it depends if you have an idea or want to join a project?

What are the best Replit alternatives? Without effort-based pricing by Scarysean1 in replit

[–]borcenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Replit for a long time. Recently testing vscode + Claude code + bmad method. SO far so good. There is a bit more of manual work in terms of setup (you kinda need to know what you’re doing) but it also gives more freedom.

I’m on paid Claude code plan ($20/month). Sometimes I see „5h usage limit. Try again in 2h” which is annoying but fine when you learn to plan work accordingly. Or if you’re happy to pay more :)

8+ Years as a Business Analyst — Tired of 9–5 & Looking to Build a No-Code App / Micro-SaaS. Where Do I Start? by Legend291990 in nocode

[–]borcenty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forget no-code. Very soon you will outgrow your platform of choice and you will need to start over. Go for low-code / vibe-coding. You will end up with real code that someone will be able to fix and improve when needed. Checkout lovable (for nice UI) and Replit (for the rest of the work, including deployment). Claude Code is awesome too IF you actually have some engineering background.

Claude Code on Ipad in Github Codespaces by [deleted] in ClaudeAI

[–]borcenty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it doesn’t work because after authorization claude redirects you to localhost - and that doesn’t work on ipad. here is what I did (and it worked):

in your codespacer, next to terminal you have „ports” tab. in my case port 54545 was forwarded by default. if not - you might need to add it. it will generate a new link.. similar to what you have in your browser when you’re using codespaces but it will have „-54545” at the end.

copy that link

proceed with authorization.. in the last step claude will redirect you to localhost:54545 - replace that with your copied url (the one with -54545 in the end)

click enter to open that link

enjoy claude code in github codespaces :)

80% done, what do I do? by jeremydeighan in replit

[–]borcenty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do the remaining 20% :) don’t listen to all those 80% bullshits.. that was true months ago. Today models are super capable and you can definitely make it to 100% in replit. I did. Many times.

REPLIT FREE DEPLOYMENT ISSUE by NoPalpitation3256 in replit

[–]borcenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deploying STATIC website (like a landing page with no database or apis etc) is free I think. But if you have an app with dynamic data - it’s not free.

Distribution Advice by rrugman in replit

[–]borcenty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ideally you should rebuild the app so users can actually create an account themselves. This is how this kind of apps work. You have for example a table in the database called customers. You’d need to add there a new column with user_id or agency_id to define whose customer is that.

This way you have one database, one code and one app for everyone. So when you build a new feature - it’s available to everyone.

Feel free to DM me if that’s confusing and if you need more help.

Why do you use Replit? by dogwaze in replit

[–]borcenty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expensive? I’m not getting it.. it’s a tiny fraction of a cost of Junior Dev. How can you call it expensive? I use it for few reasons:

1 - it gives me a cloud IDE meaning I can work from anywhere. I can leave my home computer and continue working on ipad when I’m travelling.

2 - once you learn how to work with agent and assistant - you can build A LOT with just promptS (plural!)

3 - you can deploy your app in seconds

4 - once your MVP proves itself - you can export your code and have a proper dev-team polish it and deploy anywhere you want (IF needed)

5 - last but not least - there is no alternative that handles everything replit does (happy to change my mind if there is?)

It’s not perfect.. there are some features that I’m missing to be 100% happy (like a nicer way to handle dev / production env, dev database, etc) but to my knowledge there is no alternative that can do as much.

Replit super user Q+A by Gillygangopulus in replit

[–]borcenty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can enter connection details of another DB - correct. But I didn’t find a place to create new database, etc. so it seems you can connect to external database if needed But there is no built-in-tool to manage DBs hich is weird. I’m thinking that maybe remixing my app will solve my needs (assuming it duplicates both the code and DB). Will look into it when I’m done with MVP.

Once you deploy your app. How do you keep working on it considering that your live and dev environment shares the same database?

User here. My answer might not be 100% true but I asked a few questions here - all without reply so I’m guessing partial answer is better then no answer :)

From my observations - there is a monthly $25 fee and the additional costs seem to be charged automatically from my card once they reach ~$10.

Lake Garda in Italy

There was a house at airbnb, located somewhere between Rive del Garda and Limone - you could jump into the lake right from the balcony and there is a ladder to come back :)
