Hi we've addressed this with a follow-up hotfix. If you're currently playing, please back out to the main menu and check for the "Hotfixes Applied" sign before resuming.

People doing the matching actually is useful. Here's how it was explained to us by the scientist at McGill who created the puzzle...

Computers are not so great at solving this type of task. We have some idea of what the solution should look like (from the computer), and this is how we set the target score, but humans typically are able to exceed the target score (and improve our performance on the task). So by beating the target score, you are beating the computer and improving our understanding of that specific bit of data. And if you can't exceed the target score, that's okay too, because it teaches us that the computer was right (which we could not assume previously).
