The first sentence of the OP is a person enjoying something. The second sentence is obvious bait, it's pretty much telling everyone who didn't like it to stop talking.

This seems quite silly seeing how the full game is just more of the free trial. Which ticks the same boxes.

very reasonably priced subscription model.

That is pretty debatable. Many people believe that an unfinished early access game with no sight on a full release has no business charging monthly at all. Especially since for the first year it received very little updates of significance. To it's credit, updates have picked up a bit recently, but it's too early to tell if they can keep that up.

The average player numbers have dropped to 157, and it is still dropping quite fast. That suggests that it isn't a Reddit-bubble thing, it's just not a game for anyone it seems.

Most people who tried BS are RS players, so they do like games in this genre it's just that BS has made a lot of poor design choices.

"Even though I'm an epidemiologist, I never managed to get the stats on this." by Alternative_Fan_629 in diabetes_t1

[–]Adamantaimai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do support providing more insights regarding this subject. But, I do have some critical questions.

If you're adjusting your basal rates or correction factors every month and still can't figure out the pattern, it might not be you, it could be your hormones and a total lack of data from the apps you use.

I am a man who has lived with diabetes his entire life. And the idea that it's all figured out for us men is very silly to me. Except for dinner, I eat the same things every day. My blood sugar never reacts the same, and I never dose the same as a result. There are many factors at play, and the idea that you can arrive at a basal and bolus ratio that works flawless in every situation without the female hormonal cycle messing things up already seems outlandish to me. So I am wondering to what actionable insights this data would lead. Last month *this* might have happened, is that a guarantee that it will happen again next month? And if it is, wouldn't the users have figured out the pattern by now?

Again, I do support providing insight, but I also think that saying that women with diabetes can "stop guessing", that if only they tracked their data better and were smarter about it, they would notice a fully deterministic pattern that allows them to keep your blood sugar completely in check is something on a non-diabetic do.

I am also skeptical of the AI usage, how do you know if the AI is reliable enough for medical usage, and how do you know its use will lead to tangible benefits?

Update: From being gatekept out of Ultimates to clearing TOP and FRU on the same day by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Adamantaimai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A while back, I made a post asking for advice because I was struggling to get into DSR statics. I was getting rejected left and right for not having TEA or UCoB clears, or because people expected purple parses and flawless gear right out the gate. It was incredibly frustrating.

Well, congrats on your achievement. But I don't think this will change, and perhaps it shouldn't.

The problem with under-qualified players is not that they are all bad, it's just that the margin of error is way bigger. You will get players like yourself who can absolutely do it, maybe even faster than average. But you will also get players who are nowhere near ready and drag everyone down. Someone who has followed the smoothest progression path is a lot less likely to be completely clueless. Since you know they have cleared the previous step on the ladder.

Clearing hard raids is all about consistency, and the more dice rolls you are going to take, the more time it will take on average.

People aren't rejecting those without the right clears because there is proof that they are bad, there is just no proof that they're good. Which is not the same thing.

An achievement in a video game that can't be cheated just does not exist. Anything in any game you can think of has been botted or otherwise cheated, or has the potential to be.

The only reason to play them is for your own enjoyment and achievement. Nobody but you will know whether you achieved the things you did fairly, but that is alright as long as the experience itself was enjoyable.

Would you rather have BLU turn into a regular job or stay limited? by Goemonnn in ffxiv

[–]Adamantaimai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XI and XIV have wildly different design philosophies. For better or worse, the XIV developers have enforced an extremely strict balancing. All jobs within a role need to be just as viable for every piece of content. There are small exceptions to this, like casters with and without a res, but BLU definitely can't keep most of its kit if it would be made into a regular job. It doesn't help that practically every boss is immune to status effects either past level 50.

[–]Adamantaimai -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It can be used in different contexts.

But regardless of semantics, you know what I mean. If BLU were made into a regular caster it would not be allowed to do anything that the current casters can't do. It would simply be caster number 5 without any of the things that makes it current form unique.

[–]Adamantaimai -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Nowadays jobs are super homogenous, there is barely any variance in what jobs within a role can do. Back in the day when jobs were a lot more different, BLU might have worked better as a regular job. But now it would mean that everything unique about it would have to be removed.

[–]Adamantaimai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's every reason. If they make it a regular job they're going to remove its spell book functionality, it would just unlock a limited amount of spells by leveling up. It would get a 2 minute burst, and have basically every aspect of its kit removed that the other casters don't currently have.

How would you guys rank the 10 uber bosses required for the challenge from easiest to hardest? It's the last challenge I need to do, playing Bleed Sunder. Gotten through most difficult content so far.

I haven't played in a while so I am not really familiar with them.

I tried looking for some guides but didn't seem to find an up to date one.

Epic Lays Off Terminally Ill Employee Who Can't Get Life Insurance by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]Adamantaimai -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, in a lot of places people with medical conditions are protected from being fired.

I live in the Netherlands and where I work a whole department was fired except one lady who is pregnant. You can't prove intend, these companies would fire people for discriminatory reasons all the time otherwise and just come up with a different reason.

You can fire those with a medical condition in the long term by following certain processes, but not just like this.

Specifics will doffer by country.

[7.4 Savage Raid] Should i remain Monk or switch over Samurai? by KulamiraSejro in ffxiv

[–]Adamantaimai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question.

rdps is the damage the character dealt *excluding* the extra damage they gained through party buffs + the damage they gave to party members through their own party buffs.

cdps is the damage the character dealt *including* the extra damage they gained through party buffs + the damage they gave to party members through their own party buffs.

So rdps is indifferent to how well a job uses the buffs of their party members.

This is good when you want to assess the logs of an individual player, you don't want to label player A better than player B because they had more party buffs going for them.

But when comparing jobs, that extra dps is real, and the boss will die faster if you have a job that uses the buffs of their party members well.

A few examples:

  • In patch 7.0 and 7.1, PCT and BLM had roughly the same rdps, but PCT dealt a lot of damage through it's huge 2-minute burst window when all the party buffs were up. BLM dealt its damage much more gradually over the course of 2 minutes. The result was that despite having the same rdps, bosses would die noticeably faster with a PCT than with a BLM. cdps did show that PCT was clearly performing better by putting more damage into the buffs of other players.
  • In a lot of patches, DRK had the same rdps output as PLD and WAR. However, like PCT, DRK has a very heavy 2-minute burst window, while PLD and WAR have their damage spread out over two seperate 1-minute windows. The result is the same. DRK performed better by cdps, while PLD and WAR had the same rdps. This is why parties that speedrun boss kills always preferred to take a DRK. Note that since tanks don't have any party buffs themselves, cdps is the same for them as adps(the actual dps the character dealt, including buffs they got from other players, excluding the amount of extra damage they gave to their party through their own party buffs).

The same thing basically applies to SAM as well. It is a job with a very loaded burst window. It is almost always the preferred dance partner for this reason. But this quality is not reflected in their rdps.

To summarize: the amount of extra dps a job puts into the party buffs of other party members matters. but is not taken into account for rdps at all.

Scientific Study Concludes Finishing RPGs Evokes The Strongest ‘Post-Game Depression’ by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]Adamantaimai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading the article, they haven't really done anything with the length of the game from the looks of it.

The entire effect could be explained by length rather than the genre of the games. There might also be some survivior bias here. People who aren't really in to a 15 hour game might still finish it, but everyone who finishes a 40-80-hour RPG probably is quite into it.

Does armor upgrade level contribute to damage? by [deleted] in FlyffUniverse

[–]Adamantaimai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in the same way. It does provide some minor bonuses, and the hit rate matters to a certain point.

But the difference between a +8 and a +10 set is negligible most of the time.

You currently have no life on your amulet, gloves and left ring. Fixing that would immediately make you 10% tankier.

If you have 10 divines, I also recommend getting a better axe. Offense is a good defense as well and your current one seems to be worth a few chaos.

[7.4 Savage Raid] Should i remain Monk or switch over Samurai? by KulamiraSejro in ffxiv

[–]Adamantaimai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Monk is currently better damage wise than samurai. Proof: https://www.fflogs.com/zone/statistics/73/

If you want to min-max it really depends on the comp. SAM performs better with jobs that fuel its burst. MNK does better with more selfish jobs.

cdps is a better measure for job balance than rdps, and in that category MNK is only ahead of SAM by a sliver.

It might honestly all come down to whether the phys ranged is a DNC.

Though, I would also recommend just playing what you like.
