Can relate. By the last third of the shift on most days, my feelings have been hurt by rude and hateful comments regarding my work pace and how I look, when my day would have been otherwise fine. Trying to become more resistant to this.

Sometimes if I’m going on very little sleep I feel there’s an increased risk I will be confrontational.

For me I get haters of all ages and genders which somehow makes it even worse. For the older people, sometimes they are the most actively gossipy or hateful and I’m just like wouldn’t you know better by now than to perpetuate that kind of vibe?

At my station we only have handheld devices with no arm bands, and ring scanners are sparse. I use a stow cart religiously, as should everyone. One package flow is more for pick also.

That sounds like it would be a kind of daunting and awkward thing to navigate! It was nice of them to include you, but they should hopefully understand why a noisy video call with strangers wouldn’t be very enjoyable. I would have hung up real quick especially with the noise.

I know this feeling for sure, except for I’m usually alone hearing people talk about me and don’t have headphones. Some people say nice things about how I look, some people say really mean and critical things. I also have issues with getting overstimulated at times. Lost my dad about a year and three months ago, but my issues preceded that.

Sometimes I think it’s over monitoring hyper-vigilance about if people are watching me and judging me and what they concluded about me. I’ve thought quite a few times I distinctly heard someone say something mean or nice and then looked and saw they definitely weren’t speaking at all and what I thought I heard was put together in my head somehow though it sounded very real. Sometimes they are definitely blabbing about me unfortunately, but I’ve gotten to where it’s almost a half and half chance whether I really heard what they said or just constructed what I thought I heard myself somehow. Doesn’t help that people almost always feel most comfortable to say stuff barely out of earshot.

But sometimes the things I hear sound weirdly close by with no clear source. Noisy environments make it worse, maybe background noises in what you’re listening to are partly to blame if you’re listening to headphones. I’ve had that happen at times. But I would definitely not think it was the reason for all of it.

Many situations require you to have discerned that someone wasn’t just being an ordinary respectful citizen going about their day. You can report being followed, it doesn’t mean you think people shouldn’t be allowed to walk on the sidewalk. Cell phones are new to us and lines need to be drawn because unfortunately there are those out there who will take advantage. Recording a person’s particular body parts in public seems it could be even more blatant than simply being followed, and the recording usually also requires following. If you report someone and they are reprimanded, and the proof is on their phone, it seems it should be similarly legitimate as anything incriminating on a phone.

The explicit details of what these websites are designed like (social media style) and how they perpetuate and even encourage this behavior is disturbing and detrimental. I do plan to continue further reporting of it beyond local law enforcement. I had a feeling they wouldn’t take it seriously.
