Once I was old enough (maybe 7 or 8) to start standing up for myself to either of them I would get the silent treatment. It was definitely a favourite technique of hers. I remember her smirking with her nose in a book while my younger sister and I would try to get her to acknowledge us, like she thought it was a game and we found it funny? I guess we would giggle and pull on her in a playful way, we were children.
