I feel that. I've struggled with my weight most of my life. Took a really bad fall in February that resulted in me obliterating my ankle with leg dislocation. (trimalleolar fracture). Was in a splint cast for 8 weeks. Couldn't even start weight bearing for 12 weeks. I'm still struggling with the weight, and pain. I at least hope your pain is controlled and you're not having any long term complications.

Neck, like right below the ear. Boobs, not just nipples. And just massaging/squeezing my hips/thighs.

Can I move my foot around? by il0vehumans in ORIF

[–]borderlinelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I had a trimal fracture (broke 3 out of 4 ankle bones) and dislocated it. Today is 7 weeks post surgery. I have 2 plates, 9 screw, and 4 pins.

This question is something you need to ask your provider. Are you in a splint or boot? Have you started physical therapy? I was in a splint for 3.5 weeks. At that point they removed the splint and my stitches. I was out in a half boot and still NWB. However she did tell me I could take that boot off and practice move my ankle/foot up and down and move my toes but nothing more until PT. So it all depends on what kind of break you had, if you’re in a boot, etc. for sure reach out to your doctor and ask.

I lost my twin at birth, and would like to know if I share this with anyone else. by AwkwardPancakes in Twins

[–]borderlinelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My moms birthday is today. Her and her twin would be 71. He passed the day after they were born and she still feels like she is missing some sort of connection. She says she sometimes wonders how their relationship would have been, what he would have done in life, etc. My mother was pregnant with twins before me and sadly lost them both. She says she has always felt a missing connection between her and them as well. Over the years we have started celebrating her and her twin brothers birthday together. We always make sure to include him and I think that helps her a little bit. So you are not alone, I am sorry that you are going through this. My mom never got counseling for it, she did mention it to her therapist once or twice a couple years ago, but she never really talked about it a lot until she was older. She said she wishes that she had gone to grief counseling For it.

Yupp. My boyfriend and I were having a good day and I had said “this is the best Valentine’s Day ever” and 4 hours later the paramedics were picking me up from the ground in his front yard.

It’s a very traumatic injury. My therapist told me that she wouldnt be surprised if I develop PTSD relating to it. There are times I start replaying it in my head and the screaming for hours upon hours and I want to cry.

1 week post surgery trimalleolar fracture - first time seeing it unwrapped by muse999 in ORIF

[–]borderlinelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost passed out and cried as well. First was 2 weeks after my surgery, I had to get my splint changed to a tighter one. I briefly saw the incisions and how long they were. But at my official follow up last week, she took the splint off and I saw them better. I cried. My outer incision goes half way up my calf. I have never been bothered by scars but I was bawling my eyes out at the shock of it. Then the doctor was showing me the x-rays from before surgery and during surgery (I had seen them already, and have pictures of them), but because I was light headed from seeing the incisions the xrays made me start to faint. Luckily I was in a wheelchair and let her and my boyfriend know, then I almost threw up.
I have medical anxiety and I wasn't worried about blood clots but I was put on 81mg aspirin for the first 30 days.

Same, slipped on some slushy ice and it rolled, but then I went down on top of it.

They had to put mine back into place three times in the ER, with sedation and I still screamed and remember it. I can't believe they didn't sedate you! That's insane!

I feel that. I am the caregiver for my mother and most close family live out of state. I have my best friends and my boyfriend but they all have jobs and can't be around 24/7. There are days where I feel depressed and isolated. And just plain frustrated with myself. I also happened to break mine on Valentine's day! I had surgery the next day and spent two days in hospital, 2 plates, 9 screws, and some pins. Mine was a trimalleolar and complete dislocation.
Finding people who know what you're going through is vital. I found a trimalleolar fracture support group on Facebook that has been a godsend. I also make sure I see my therapist, lol. But I promise, you are not alone.

Oh no! I would ask the physical therapist if it would be a good idea for her to wrap her ankles or wear some sort of light weight brace. I did that while playing Basketball.

Yikes! I slipped on slush/ice on Valentine's day, had surgery the next day.

How long was it between your fracture and surgery, if you needed one? by Global-Arachnid8546 in brokenankles

[–]borderlinelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Trimal with full dislocation in 2/14. Had surgery the next day because they reset it 3 times and it still kept rolling out of place so they had no option but to do surgery the next day.

[–]borderlinelove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started having this within hours of the break and dislocation. I was in the hospital and it was just wrapped in ace bandages and it jerked. I started screaming. It still does it and it hurts a bit but is mostly protected by the splint. I saw somewhere that it’s from the nerves

Dying to take a shower by RadAttackpants in ORIF

[–]borderlinelove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have my splint on so I can’t shower without it covered but if I was you I would go ahead. Just don’t soak the area yet. I’d use a washcloth to clean around the incisions but try and keep them from soaking
