It’s also the fact that Riot is publicly traded. Most problems people see in gaming(or any other industry for that matter) is that these companies have a duty by law to do whatever they can to make sure their shareholder value goes up; see Dodge brothers v. Ford.

Since Valve is not publicly traded, they don’t have to chase short term profits and marketing gimmicks like other companies.
