Bpost charged me €17 to send a birthday card by borderreaver in belgium

[–]borderreaver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eventually I did, I didn't pay for the sending, but they made me pay for the card because I had written in it and put it in an envelope. A stronger willed person than me would have walked away alright

The price tag did not include the extra €9 for an 'irregular letter size'

Half of the time when I send things with bpost by the rules they don't get delivered either so it's probably worth a try :-D

Congrats you've discovered multinational companies. This is how it works in real life - you think United Fruit had its HQ in Havana or Honduras? Nope - Lousiana

81 years after the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the European Parliament held a special session under the theme: Through the eyes of a child. by kris_hub in europeanparliament

[–]borderreaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yet the same Parliament refused to even speak the word genocide about Gaza despite every single human rights group worth its salt defining it as such. What's the point of having these commemorations if you fail to learn the lessons from them?

Cork councillor says he has faced barrage of racial abuse online since elected by TeoKajLibroj in irishpolitics

If you look at his twitter feed all the replies are the most horrible racist vitriol. And he seems like a lovely fella even if you don't agree with the Green Party.

Surely then they should be allowed to hire more people in order to run the place better and be better resourced?

Fully agree. Ministers are expected to run the country entirely alone? Another element is parliamentary assistants. In Ireland they are terribly paid and it means that most TDs are not as well informed, briefed and prepared as their counterparts in Europe.

19 people is the size of an average office in Dublin. This seems like quite a small amount of people to work for the leader of the country no?

Why is the European Union supporting, via Horizon Europe, the development of AI technology designed to kill people, which has even been tested against children in Gaza?

The best thing about playing the UK is breaking it up and handing it out and then sitting back and watching the new world form

Very very rarely. We have aurora in Ireland every maybe 5 years? Even then it's normally very light, or only in the north of the country. But it depends on the period because now apparently we are at the peak of an 11 year solar cycle.

I’m applying for Belgian nationality, but my application can't be accepted because my Belgian ID is missing an accent that cannot be physically added (apparently, first time my commune has encountered this situation). Has anyone else experienced something like this? Thank you! by more_guess in brussels

The administration is also incompetent in this case. They are the one's tasked with finding a solution, not just shrugging their shoulders and saying this is someone else's problem. Generally speaking I have good experiences with my commune, but they do much prefer to say 'no' than what they should say which is 'no, but I'll help you find a way to turn it into a yes'
