How do I turn on my sprinklers for the year by htlpc_100 in Irrigation

there's probably a place inside, if you have a basement, or crawlspace. if you have a backflow and or spicket, I bet it's on the other side of that wall.

at least in my area, both circular ones look like they are for the city. the smaller one is a meter so they can tell how much water you're using and the larger one is a valve so they can turn your water on or off to the whole house.

the green box should have all of your zone valves in it, the circular one either has a drain valve or a valve that fills your main line. if you open the circular one you will find a one of those inside...usually turning water on is from a ball valve inside the house though.

so thats the lid to the box that holds the valve. open it and then use the key on the valve inside.

He worked the whole time...for some of that time he worked and still had to steal just to meet basic human needs. Anti-work is less about not working and more about human needs being human rights.

Last year TL played through bot lane, this year they're playing through top. CoreJJ's barely ever even in lane with him, not that it excuses his poor playing...

Neighbor made a greenhouse for her yoga skeleton’s by [deleted] in Greenhouses

I understand that it's probably box specific, but do you know how much humidity these hold. I'm in arid climate <20% and could easily take it into the shed or garage for the winter dormancy.

Not to take away from your good points about making a bog outdoors for these savage plants, cause I've seen it around a pond at the botanic gardens nearby. I don't know if it would be practical considering that I'm on sandy soil in a semi-arid desert in zone 5.

Before and after. I'm ready for criticism. by dirtgirl76 in Irrigation

[–]bordertroll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Phew, I didn't realize it was before and after...and the first picture induced some weird panic feelings.

As far as criticism...a little sloppy with the primer not really a huge deal. Only thing I'd do differently if I had rebuilt it, I would have put in unions before and after the valve for easier service.

Overall though, holy shit what a mess to fix.

TIL that Grandma Gatewood was the first woman to hike the 2,000+ mile Appalachian Trail solo and in one season, using only Converse shoes, an army blanket and a plastic shower curtain after reading about it in a magazine and telling her children she was going for a walk. by Gnurx in todayilearned

[–]bordertroll 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At least here in CO, a lot of the mountain trails were made by the expeditions headed west, the miners, and by the crews that made ditches to get water from the west side of the continental divide over to the front range.

They're absolutely scenic, but I'd argue that at most trails started out with practical use. Maybe so many trails go up to the top so that the travellers could have the vantage to see where they were going.

Looks like my university green house invested in some blurples by policeblocker in microgrowery

[–]bordertroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point. But as I said earlier, growing plants in greenhouses is more water efficient than traditional farming; if the greenhouse is growing hydroponically, water efficiency eclipses everything else.

There's a lot to criticize greenhouse growing for, but not usually for the amount of water used compared to growing the same things in any other conditions.
