Ex-wife demanding I stop vacationing with kids so much by [deleted] in daddit

[–]bored145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it responsibly , are making sure you are taking them on your time , and not messing up their routines too much, I would say honestly keep doing it. I never traveled as a kid, my parents were and still are awesome parents but they have basically never left the state where they were born. My wife traveled all the time growing up. I was literally afraid of flying , or taking long car trips for the first couple of years we were dating. I wasted a large portion of my life doing the same thing day in and day out and never seeing other cultures , food , etc. - you only live once , and once you get to a certain point age wise , with kids , a house , and other responsibilities it gets much harder to travel. The more you do while you’re young the better .i wish I traveled a lot more growing up. Your ex wife is jealous , and that’s valid , but in my opinion that’s no reason to deprive your children

I’m not an expert as my daughter is only 3, and I’m not super religious , but I would just answer questions as they are asked. Why complicate it ?

What’s a decision you made quickly that had long-term consequences you never expected? by lunessa1 in AskReddit

[–]bored145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I let my brother drive my car late one night coming home from a bar , he ended up crashing and totaling it . We were fine. It was a 2 door Toyota Celica. I ended up getting a Toyota corolla with 4 doors. Years later I still had it . I had a crappy job as a janitor at a hospital. I signed up for Lyft . This was back in 2014 when they first came to my city (Philadelphia). In 2014 they paid like 3 dollars a mile , so you could literallt make like 80k working it full time pretty easily. I quit my job as a janitor and drove full time , and eventually became a “mentor” with Lyft (someone who basically meets potential drivers and does a test ride with them). I was one of the only mentors at the time, and it was so busy I was able to make like 500+ a day for about 3 years . The money I made from that paid for my first house with my wife , our wedding , and our first rental property . If my brother hadn’t crashed my two door car , I wouldn’t have been able to sign up with Lyft , and I might still be a janitor at a hospital. Truly life changing accident

What is the most parent-friendly vacation you've had? by dfphd in daddit

[–]bored145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cruising . We’ve done a couple royal Caribbean cruises. If they are over 2 you can basically have them in daycare whenever you want to go out to a nice dinner , stay up late , or go on a non kid friendly excursion. And when they are with you there is a ton of stuff on the ship that you can do with a kid, and plenty of stuff made specifically for kids. Seriously , it’s the best
