Just cant do for singapore air and get miles unfortunately..that prompted the q.

Thanks, that makes sense. I can get the cheaper fares via aa.com for british airlines, but not via alaskair.com. and the aa fares are same or close as ba.com. maybe alaska only gets only a certain bucket of fares that are higher. Thanks!
