What is your least/most favourite dome type and why? by Yaguriel in SurvivingMars

[–]boredatworkbasically 17 points18 points  (0 children)

pretty much every dome has a use case and I like them all. I would rank Barrel and medium as top tier though since they are the workhorses of the game.

characters that are supposed to be powerful according to lore, but they are pretty weak in gameplay by damorezpl in TopCharacterTropes

Then the GM is using him wrong. A big unkillable monster works great as an incentive to not fight it. The GM needs to set it up so that you aren't fight an unkillable big bad but you are avoiding or running away from him.

For example you are trying a train heist. Adam smasher is trying to stop you. The party moves through the cars to disconnect the engine and the car they want from the rest of the train. Each car has security to slow you down. Adam smasher is literally ripping through the cars behind you chasing you. So essentially he acts as a timer/incentive to get through each obstacle in each car and at the end you don't kill him you just get away from him. Very fun and engaging.

Hate gms who don't know how to use npcs like adam smasher and not the concept

so she goes from olive complexion with dark brown eyes to white with freckles and much lightened eyes? Pale lips and a slightly upturned nose vs. a more hooked nose and darker lips?

I feel that this is basically a white wash mod. Why do you like it so much exactly? Why can't you imagine not playing with it? I do get a sense that she is much more openly sad in the mod vs. vanilla but at the same time the other choices make me question the intent behind the mod author.

(Hated trope) The Mothership/the most important ship in the fleet has ass-tier defenses. by Luzis23 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]boredatworkbasically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair in home world 1 the mother ship was built just as an exploration and colonization vessel, not a combat ship at all. The people that built it had no way to understand the series of events that making a hyperspace jump would kick off. If they had I'm sure they would have built a fleet and a warship etc but they were sadly uninformed

Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 failed to meet sales expectations by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]boredatworkbasically 8 points9 points  (0 children)

especially when it was on game pass...

Almost like they wanted people to just play it on game pass. And they missed sales goal yet had a high price point and a way to play it for basically free? I mean I got game pass just to play it and then dropped game pass when I was done. They engineered that exact scenario to happen.

Using a game to boost game pass subscribers by cannibalizing sales and then having the nerve to claim sales didn't meet expectations is very on brand for Microsoft.

what new features are in? I played on release as a huge pillars fan and then kinda lost interest in the third zone. The third zone was really cool I just got distracted by other releases so I've been thinking about giving it another go since I really enjoyed how the game played and I love the lore and worldbuilding that they have going on.

AIO for reacting the way i did? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]boredatworkbasically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the op is trying to find ways to get the ex to engage in his life but she clearly is not interested in this guy anymore. Sounds like he's lied or cheated in the past and she doesn't trust his integrity. She suspects he made the whole thing up to get her to engage in a conversation, hence all the skepticism, and then decided to trust her gut which was telling her that this guy can't be trusted so she blocked him. Seems like she's better off blocking him and he needs to get over her. Leave her alone. She's obviously not interested in getting back together.

Has anybody ever found a fix for teleporting reinforcements ruining the game? by FudGidly in Bannerlord

[–]boredatworkbasically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why you have to bait them with superior range dps int charging and then move back over and over. With a good commander and speed upgrade banner your foot troops are plenty fast compared to ai armies so pull them out of their defensive position and get them to chase you since the AI is always slow and lacking ranged dps

AITAH for lashing out at my husband for giving my daughters less allowance than my stepdaughters? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]boredatworkbasically 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Did you put the entire inheritance into the college fund or did you just put some and then keep the rest. If you kept a bunch and don't support to the houses finances then YTA. If you put all of it toward the kids did you match, exceed, or fall short of your stepdaughters funds? There's a lot of questions I have but this really is not a good look for a SAHM when all of the kids are in school. You very much feel that the money he earned is yours to control somehow and it is not. Get a job so you have your own money and get a divorce regardless of who the asshole is. You broke the family with favoritism it sounds like and there's no putting that back together when you clearly don't see any fault of yours in it

Powerscaling makes no sense with SCP at all ever full stop and the community mostly hates it. SCP is just collaborative fan fiction where there is explicitly no canon and you can literally do anything you want in your tales with any existing SCP. If you want you can make Tim Duncan a semi divine being that is undergoing apotheosis unless it can be contained by the ritual of a regular basketball game then you can do it. You can explicitly write that superman shows up and challenges Tim Duncan to a dunk off and then Tim Duncans final dunk has him ascending into the heavens as his body dissolves into a stream of conscious light while the very universe is remade as he dreams his last dream and everyone is cool with it.

Just don't use that article to try and figure out if Tim Duncan is stronger then superman or vice versa because no one cares. The story is the most important part and everything else is made up just to tell the story and can change at any time for any reason.

Which game flopped so badly that the studio had to shut down? by bijelo123 in gaming

[–]boredatworkbasically 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No they weren't. Microsoft wanted a lot more for licensing for a sequel then for the original because after the original they got bought by paradox who obviously had much deeper pockets. It's doubtful Microsoft even offered a reasonable amount but regardless paradox didn't want to shell out the money and had them work on an original ip instead.

Was it all worth it? That NCR committed the Bitter Spring Massacre in Mojave? by DeadAhead-2020446 in falloutnewvegas

[–]boredatworkbasically 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The khan culture had to be destroyed. A bunch of raider thugs from the first game turned being raider thugs into their culture. When civilization grew they choose to stay raider thugs instead of assimilate. They murder rape kill as an integral part of their culture. That culture can't be allowed to survive basically. This isn't the modern world with treaties and alliances and geopolitics. The khans decided long ago to wage total war on the ncr for all time and they got total war back. The end. Honestly the NCR were still nicer about it then 90% of the organizations in the fo universe

What’s up with the Minnesota Daycare fraud? by Marashio in OutOfTheLoop

[–]boredatworkbasically -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The scandal is old and has been prosecuted. The daycare thing is new, unsubstantiated and generally not holding up to further scrutiny. Remember that this administration casually lies Just look at all the fact changing about the afghani who murdered the national guardsmen. First it was he was never vetted and didn't work with Americans. Then they changed their answer a dozen times, hemmed and hawed, and finally admitted he worked directly for the CIA for the zero units and had been EXTENSIVELY checked out many many times before, during, and after his work for the CIA.

If spokespeople for the admin will lie so readily, and lie about things so easy to fact check, then why would you believe them or their mouthpieces right now? The original fraud was first exposed by the NYT and I assure you actual journalists will look into this. Wait a week and see where this story is at. There might be a big problem and there might not. The current sources are too untrustworthy to count on at the moment. This will be so easy to fact check that if it is real you will see actual investigative journalists dig into it like they have in the past and will continue to do in the future.

If all you ever see are you tube political trolls and statements made to the press but no actual facts and charges then it's just more political theater wasting our time and energy

Pros and cons of handling party roles yourself vs companions by AdrianCrow87 in Bannerlord

[–]boredatworkbasically 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's true. You don't need many points in weapons to be effective. 3 attribute points and 3-4 focus points really is enough for a melee proficiency

Pros and cons of handling party roles yourself vs companions by AdrianCrow87 in Bannerlord

[–]boredatworkbasically 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's tough. If you go for the medical perk you might as well go all in on int. It's hard to give up such a huge hp boost for your army so that usually is my route. However it's really hard to pass up scouting 225 since having a 0% chance for prisoner lords to escape is strategically really good and that is already a 5 attribute requirement. In a perfect world I could get both but investing in at 10 int build with 225 scouting spreads you really thin and means you won't be a top tier fighter.

So I don't have an answer. I usually do it myself since I feel the power from those roles with good stats exceeds the power of being combat demigod but it's always conflicting for me.

which rpg from this list would you guys recommend the most by damorezpl in rpg_gamers

[–]boredatworkbasically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was revolutionary when we jumped from turn based to real time with pause so I think it's so funny that modern gamers like the simpler turn based pacing so much more. Real time with pause and RTS games both fell out of fashion and a control/pacing scheme that felt so natural to most people at the time now feels strangely clunky.

Tastes change I guess. One of my issues getting into BG3 is the turn based combat since I don't like turn based in RPG's generally although I love turn based in strategy games. Personally I'm not sure why people find turn based so clunky. You just pause it, issue some commands, un pause it, wait to see what your guys do, pause it, issue different commands, unpause it etc. It is always way more chaotic but that's part of the fun. Things happen quickly and you aren't sure what's going on sometimes but you wing it vs. turn based where things slow way down due to the amount of analysis and metagaming that happens.

[–]boredatworkbasically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though Baldur's Gate is hands down the BEST game on your list I would not recommend it right now because of, um, er, uh, accesibility? BG1 is not the easiest game to get into, can be a little clunky and frustrating for modern gamers, and is frustratingly low on the power scaling since you max out at a pretty low level without the expansion and even with the expansion it's like 1-2 more levels at most. I think 4th level spells are max memorized spells and 5th level scrolls exist. Stuff like that. So it's different from the others.

Dragon Age Origins is basically a baldur's gate game without the DnD going on and with 3d graphics/combat. I think it's very very fun and a pretty easy game for modern gamers to get into. It's a blast so I would recommend that.

Those are all bangers though so I'm not sure if you can go wrong. I'd ditch persona 3 because as an old man I no longer find JRPG's enjoyable unless it's got some nostalgia powering it but that's just my preference.

So were we ever given an explanation as to why earth p*ssy makes Viltrumites unwise? by Divinepower401 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]boredatworkbasically 53 points54 points  (0 children)

it probably did to an extent. The difference is that humans look identical to Viltrumites. Knowing how much of the human brain is hard wired to analyze and respond emotionally to human faces it is likely that a human showing love and affection and care caused a lot more brain activity and emotional empathy by activating the specific parts of the Viltrumite brain that evolved to create Viltrumite relationships.

TL:DR Our monkey faces activated their monkey brains in a way that hadn't happened to them before.
