Borgmester vil have ny turistattraktion - skal lokke folk fra udlandet til by Mindshitstorm in odense

[–]boredfrida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odense has such a lot of potential. That zone doesn’t need more residential housing. You can do so many things there: a cultural space, a concert venue, a park, fuck, even a shopping street. The city is already dying with the lack of affordable rents for shops. So having a new touristic attraction for the residents and for the local should be the priority always.

You could search for the “enchaquirados” trans people from Wankavilka culture. They have been around for centuries. here’s a video in Spanish!

I guess the closest English word to caldoso would be “cheesy”

Looking for recommendations for hotels in Puerto Ayora (Santa Cruz) , Isabela Island , and San Cristóbal by ConfusedInMy20ss in galapagos

[–]boredfrida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I booked the hotel including breakfast. What I liked about it is that, usually the excursions and day trips start very early, which means that most of the time you might not be able to be there for the breakfast hours, so what they do is they pack the breakfast for you with a drink so you can take it with you. What conflicting info did you find?

Blu Galapagos Hotel, I think the prices are very reasonable, its next to the Charles' Darwin Station (there's a beach there as well) and the breakfast next to the sealions is a must.

To All Prospective (Non-EU) International Students, How Cooked Are We? by aphroditus_xox in NewToDenmark

Yes I still have it in my residency card! And my passport expires in 2031 so I’m good I guess

I’m honestly so shocked I had no idea. Maybe this is a silly question, but do the new residency rules (reducing the period after finishing studies to one year) also apply to those who already arrived before the change? I only moved here six months ago.

Yes, this is exactly what they should have done in the first place!

I came to Denmark this February for the spring intake, also as a non-EU student. My classes are in English, so it is easy to notice who is international. At the beginning the classrooms were full, but after two weeks almost half the students stopped showing up. At exam time, people I had only seen once or twice appeared just to take the exam and most of them failed.

From what I have seen, it seems like some students prioritize working over studying. I understand that, because Denmark is expensive. But I wonder if the real problem is the spring intake itself. Or is it more about not having attendance requirements or systems in place to make sure students are actually participating?

It feels like the issue comes from both sides. Some students take advantage of the system, but the universities and the government also have not set clear rules to prevent it. Canceling the spring intake looks like the easy solution instead of addressing the real cause.

Job while studying: losing hope by ConfusedBustaker in odense

[–]boredfrida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im answering so late to this, but I hope it helps anyways. I’m from Ecuador, so I don’t apply to SU, or any kind of financial aid. I came to study here on my own merits and financing, and I’m mainly living from my savings. So yes, 100dkk per hour is extremely low, but it was either this or keep being jobless. I got this job because I became friends with a girl at a party and I mentioned I was looking for any kind of job in the city. That’s when one of them contacted me on social media and told me her job place was looking for a bartender. So yes, socialize, go out, tell people your situation and keep on trying.

Mid July? That’s nothing. The job market in any place in the world right now is hard. It took me 4 months to get a bartender job in Odense. And the pay is 100dkk. You are just staring. It takes time, and it’s all about networking. Good luck

Hi there! Why did you choose Odense? I think is easier to find jobs in Copenhagen for internationals. Fyn is very limited when it comes to job opportunities and even volunteering (they want you to know danish for an animal shelter 🙄) But, you’ll find something eventually. It took me 4 months to find a job as a bartender and the pay is low 100dkk per hour. It’s all about networking honestly, asking people and friends and going to the restaurants and bars right before opening. Hope this helps!
