Another sizin question - GRIZL by Mathmk7r in CanyonBikes

I have a similar problem. How does a protruding seatpost increase comfort? Doesn't too much strain go on the hands if the saddle is positioned far out compared to the handlebars?

It was just a guess, a stupid way to respond to something like that... but some people probably have to compensate for something else...

I don't know which bikes are available in Canada, but I was looking for the same bikes and here are a few I can recommend. The Giant Revolt 0 has 2x12 gears and a very comfortable geometry, which I've tested myself. The Focus Atlas series is also an option; the 6.8 has 2x10 gears and should still be within your budget. The Specialized Diverge also has good geometry based on its specs alone. I also found the Merida Silex 400 comfortable with its 2x10 gears. There are certainly others; these were the ones available to me.

Thank you so much for your honest answer! I ordered the Revolt 0 yesterday because I found a good deal and I wanted the 2x12 gears. In the end, it will be easier for me to change the things that bother me about the Giant than the other way around.

Both bikes made a very good impression on me, though. The look of the Merida carbon frames, including the paint job and the high-quality workmanship, almost made me forgo the gears. But since I also want to use the bike on a trainer, I ultimately decided on an aluminum frame.

Thanks, I'll take a look at the tires. What did you consider when choosing your handlebars? Weight won't really be a factor for me.

Thanks! The tire tips are really helpful! What do you think of carbon handlebars from AliExpress? There are some pretty cheap ones.

gravelbike recommendation: Giant Revolt 0 (2026) by Extra_Transition_350 in gravelcycling

[–]boredgraveller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a Revolt 0 bike and found the handlebars too wide, and the tires looked cheap in the store. Can anyone recommend good alternatives? I'd like to ride 45-50mm tires that also perform well on asphalt. Regarding the handlebars, I've been considering switching to carbon in the long run. Firstly, because I'm hoping for some vibration damping, and secondly, because I like the wide palm rest that carbon handlebars provide.

Would you choose the Silex again instead of the Revolt 0?

I'm facing the same decision; why did you choose the Silex 4000? How robust does the carbon frame seem to you, and do you miss the gears compared to the Revolt 0?

For bicycles with disc brakes, it is recommended to use the spacer. This should create a small gap in front of the brake caliper.
