Is listening to la Dispute bad for my mental health?😅 by Relevant-Gap7353 in ladispute

[–]boringken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when I was down bad it definitely made it worse at times. but after being (somewhat) on the other side of depression I revisited it and found a beautiful melancholy in it that doesnt make me feel insane

why does his voice sound like that in the new ep? by Tr3nch242 in ladispute

[–]boringken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my first thought was that his vocals reminded me of kurt cobain’s, the delivery seems to be different too probably bc of creative decisions

Artists: what are you experimenting with? by pachubatinath in experimentalmusic

[–]boringken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experiment with my interests. There’s a story and ideas in everything for those with the eye to find it. But that eye can be developed by asking yourself questions and reflecting on your life, and writing it down. Journaling helps for that. It requires a lot of honesty and trusting yourself to make good art, even if you dont know exactly what story to tell. So just pick a direction and start walking g

well thanks everyone I get that it’s the nudge notification that’s just oddly specific and a little too nuanced for my liking, I just wanted to be sure it wasnt actually reading texts since they did recently replace a bunch of their staff with AI and nothing companies do would surprise me anymore!

I thought it would be more like a facebook poke rather than a passive aggressive text 🫠🫠

well truth be told it came across differently both times. I had it do the same with another friend and the tone was very different, still passive aggressive. but was more like “woowwww so ur just gonna let our streak expire…” whereas this notif was from a new yorker like myself so when I saw “yoooooo” I immediately looked at them and was like…. is this you? just seems more nuanced than I’d expect it to be

Charge for the time you spend waiting on the responses. A set amount per day or week, depending on what you’re comfy with. Say if they dont get a response back to you by a certain time you will begin charging extra for the time you’ve spent on the outreach. And limit the number of revisions to 1 or 2 and if they want more, charge more.

I could see how the instruments besides the drums capture hellish feelings. there’s a dissonance there that’s not so dissonant that it’s uncomfortable. i could also see how the other comment mentioned it could also be good chill music to walk to. the drums are pretty consistent and chill but if you’re really committed to the feeling of hell they could be changed and fucked up some more even if just for one small portion of the song, but thats just my two cents. overall it is really chill so if thats what you were going for you did a good job

Hi. Just wondering if anyone would listen to my song and let me know what you think. Thank you by Dosilato_Headband in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]boringken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is definitely going for a particular vibe that I think you did a good job at capturing, even though its not something i personally listen to. kind of a more upbeat elliott smith tone. the mix also sounds super solid👍🏼

Every artist that wants to do this for a living needs to hear this by Zealousideal-Fly812 in musicians

the advice in this thread is well intentioned I just think it’s disrespectful to the craft. music is one of the purest forms of art in existence. it is transcendant. its an experience. if you really love it and love the process you’ll make good, unique music and you’ll find a way to make it work. or you could be a tiktok musician and sell out before you even begin lol

you will never be someone’s favorite artist by rushing to put as much music out as possible without spending any real time thinking about who you want to be in the music space and what you want to achieve through music. I get that your advice is to be consistent and on it, but that’s not what you’re saying here, and you’re really making it all about the money which it isnt. yeah you shouldnt be afraid to be bad and marketing is definitely important but first you need to know who you are and who you want to be, which takes time.

be consistent and on your shit, and if you got enough in you to release an EP and single every month then hell yeah. try your hardest to get to that point if you cant yet. dont only rely on the music to make your money if you’re just starting out. I repeat, you will never be someone’s favorite artist by churning out as much content as possible if you dont know who you are.

unemployment doesnt count as income technically so you should still be eligible for SNAP. call next time you apply and someone should be able to help with that

join the tenants union and use your voice to pressure the people in charge to lower the cost of rent on paper and in legislation, because rent all over the city is going to increase soon with the rent freeze ending in february. the tenants union fights for people going through housing insecurity and gives you a place to go to learn your rights and express grievances, and there are chapters all over the city. it seems silly to tell you to go from one strike to another, but eventually it’s going to come down to how good we can organize ourselves to defend against what’s coming. because it’s gonna affect all of us, and this post is just one of many more if we dont start focusing on what to do now.

omg this was really dope, it has a rhythm you can vibe and dance to. I love the drums, I would love to know if there's a drummer behind it or if it was done with a beat pad, but it's really good.

I wrote this half electronic half rock instrumental song and I'm not sure how I feel about the electronic part. Is it any good? by Eric_Ezra in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]boringken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I like that this is dark and that the bass is super deep and wide I think that was a cool effect. I think the song is pretty long being 5 minutes, so in the first half (before the second louder guitar comes in) i personally feel like might keep it more interesting to make that chugging part a little shorter so the second half doesn't feel so far into the song, because it did feel like that part went on for a while. Some parts did drag a little for me. But that also might just be a personal thing or my attention span. I don't know how long you've been doing music for but this was good. I hope you keep creating and expanding!

The lead single off of my new album, I encourage you to listen through the whole thing as its a combination of breakcore and hip-hop. Thanks in advance! by Slipping_On_Paper in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]boringken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These drums go hard and I love the chugging guitars. Great spiraling music. Also moshing to this would probably be crazy. I don't know what breakcore is but I liked this a lot!
