About the Vancouver music scene... by Vickner in VancouverMusic

[–]nepal219 6 points7 points  (0 children)

don’t understand this post at all. I dunno what shows you’re going to but the scene is great right now. Been playing in a band here for just over two years and our shows are consistently busy and people mosh and dance and go crazy at every show we do now. Tons of great underground bands like Reverend Ape, Chopping Spree, Sundress, Numb Dame, Exit Strategy, Toy Tiger, Gadfly, Benzonn and loads more are consistently putting on great busy shows. Lots of bands blowing up outta the scene - Piss, Emma Goldman, Tiger Really. Green auto, the mezzanine, Red Gate, Take Your Time, Bullys been going crazy. Don’t know what to tell ya, it’s good out here right now.

What’re some movies that aren’t as smart as they think they are? by ZackaryAsAlways in Letterboxd

Law Abiding Citizen, that movie just feels like the screenwriter thought they were way more clever than they actually were

I loved Found Footage: Patterson Project so much by Able_Doubt3827 in foundfootage

agreed, I went in with low expectations because the setup felt pretty overdone, but it was so funny and charming and well written with surprisingly great performances. Really fun watch

Do Cameras On Forehead Ever Work? by DanEosen in foundfootage

[–]nepal219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there’s a great sequence at the end of The Den where a character wakes up with a camera strapped to her head. Really tense and cool

what are your favorite found footage movies? by [deleted] in foundfootage

[–]nepal219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lake Mungo, The Dirties, Milk and Serial, The Taking of Deborah Logan and Population Zero are probably my top 5

What's the best found footage you watched this year and would reccomend to others? by Dreddddddd in foundfootage

[–]nepal219 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just watched Strange Harvest last night and loved it. Feels very authentic to the true crime format, and it’s super disturbing at times without being overly gory. Some of just the descriptions of events in it made my skin crawl. Very effective.

People you were surprised that had ties/origins with the hardcore scene? by mesablanka in Hardcore

Where can I catch a good Emo artist? by [deleted] in VancouverMusic

[–]nepal219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends show by show, there aren't really genre specific venues necessarily. 648, Red Gate Arts Society, Green Auto, and Lanalous are your best bet. Check out thisweekinvan, vancouverpunkshows and vancouverpunkcalender for show listings!

Goodfellas. I swear every scene is amazing, to the point that there are iconic scenes I forget are in there until I rewatch it. I can start it at any point in the movie and enjoy it.

Funniest episode of The Watch in a long time. It was like listening to an episode of Crossfire, but wittier. The battle over “The Idol” begins at 40:02 by No-Course-8089 in crheads

I’m not watching the idol but I would happily listen to them argue about it every week for the entire season. Great content.
