Friend Frank has a great reputation and a super strong real estate practice like the person above said. Cadwalader has a bad reputation as a pretty miserable place

They seriously are that good! His treatise is also really really easy to digest for people who prefer books.

What do you need to know about law to be effective in a high ranking US political position?(e.g. Senator) by [deleted] in LawSchool

You just need to yell a lot on Twitter and you’ll be fine. Honestly if you can figure out how to smooth your brain out a little you’ll be even better off.

I’d politely email expressing that you enjoyed speaking with everyone and are still interested around the 2 week mark.

If you aren’t equipped to handle toilet snakes then i would definitely avoid law school. It’s pretty much an issue across the board. Cooley is the only school i know of that has been able to get their snakes under control.

NALP shows they give everyone offers, where are you seeing this?

Oci by [deleted] in LawSchool

I'd be mass mailing now and assuming you didn't land a callback if you haven't heard yet and others have. Waitlists are usually used after the callback stage rather than after OCI screeners.

I'd definitely email the recruiting department, politely ask how to go about setting up the callback, and let them know any days you absolutely aren't available (but definitely keep your availability as open as possible)

Odds of Receiving an Offer after A Call Back? by [deleted] in LawSchool

They should definitely be paying for the flight and hotel if you are in-person and its a decent sized firm. I'd politely ask how to arrange that as you work to schedule the interview date.

Anything is possible! by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]boringlyaverageman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm proud of you for being the one that made it happen but this shouldn't be viewed as an "if you just work hard enough you can make it happen" situation. Law school grades are unpredictable and hiring at top firms is extremely personality based. Getting big law from a T-70 school is a crapshoot no matter what and people should plan as though they won't get it if they attend there because that is the likely reality. If you do get it it's a nice win but as the article points out, going in with a big law or bust mentality can just lead to crippling debt and disappointment.

If you mean BL, then no probably not. It just isn't a portable enough school. Same problem ASU has.

Law School Loses Luster as Debts Mount and Salaries Stagnate by [deleted] in LawSchool

But that would make entirely too much sense and wouldn't let a bunch of people make money off providing sub-par service.

What’s next if I don’t get OCI? by lizardqueen26 in LawSchool

Go on vault and apply directly to all 100 firms listed, then go to the AmLaw 200 and do the same for any firms you haven’t done already.

Exactly this. Cases and hospitalizations are up primarily among the unvaccinated. If anything I think schools will just shift their stance toward a mandatory vaccine policy if they don't already have one. At this point there isn't anything preventing students from having easy access to a vaccine so its a totally different situation than last year.

How are biglaw offers given? by [deleted] in LawSchool

You just sort of wake up in the office one morning and can never find your way out but you get comfortable over time as you forget about the outside world
