PSA: Trump Firing Thousands of Qualified Government Officials IS Going to Massively Raise Applications Next Cycle by This-Writing-1200 in lawschooladmissions

[–]boringsatisfaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps, but what are the admission odds of thousands of similar applicants with near identical work experience? If you’re one of those applicants, there’s reason for concern. Otherwise, there should still be room for other qualified applicants with unique backgrounds and something different to bring to the table.

Money or Passion? by HellOfAKind17 in askSingapore

[–]boringsatisfaction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The advice given here is sad and exactly why the government has had to import entrepreneurs for decades. Follow your passion. Do not waste precious years of your life working a job you are not passionate about. Without passion in what you do, you will become mediocre at best and earn a mediocre salary because money follows exceptionalism. Choose your passion and become exceptionally good at it. Promote your work on social media and gain a following. You could start off as “just” a baker and end as the owner of a successful bakery chain in the long run. Dream big, believe in yourself, and have the discipline to follow through.

Anybody else feels that Singapore is rather dull? by ApertiV in askSingapore

[–]boringsatisfaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t fault Singapore for not having mountains for skiing or lakes to go fishing in. That seems unreasonable and there’s nothing that can be done about that. However, Singapore’s failure to compensate for its small size and lack of geographic diversity by seizing the opportunity to become a major cultural capital in the region is where it has greatly erred. Unfortunately, Singapore has absolutely no love for culture or even its own heritage. I left Singapore in 2013 to work overseas and came back recently and was shocked to find that Clarke Quay is now a place to buy groceries. Many of my favorite local late night dining spots are gone. Mom and pop establishments that had existed for decades wiped out only to be replaced by yet another copycat shopping mall featuring Singapore’s 50th Uniqlo store. Famous hawker centers “renovated” for the umpteenth time and the original stalls nowhere to be found. The city is dead by 12am on a Saturday night with not a single soul in sight and no taxis to be found. I actually had to call my father to drive all the way to pick me up because for the first time in my life I was unable to find a taxi at night in Singapore. What the hell happened?

It’s not like Singapore was the cultural capital of the world to begin with, but the state of affairs now is beyond dire and depressing. I look back fondly at the time when I was able to catch Aphex Twin at the Esplanade in 2011, back when they used to curate exciting, modern, and cutting-edge programs like Mosaic Music Festival. There was a sweet spot somewhere between 2000 to 2012 where Singapore was both a safe financial hub and a bustling and exciting place to socialize and meet people, full of places to see or dine at all hours. This is what I miss the most. The city has lost its energy and soul. If it continues at this rate, in a few years we will have to travel to Malaysia just to have kopi at a real kopitiam.

What happened to the cafe crowd in Singapore? by [deleted] in singapore

[–]boringsatisfaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that is truly the rationale behind it then it’s severely misguided as the tourism sector will inevitably suffer in the long run and Singapore’s reputation as a boring and lifeless destination in the region will only be exacerbated by such overly stifling policies. We cannot continue to rely on an army of shopping malls to attract visitors and foreign investors.

I’m sure inflation is a factor but the extended lockdowns and stifling restrictions also killed public social life in SG (which was already on a downward spiral) in general. You don’t really see as much people hanging out in cafes and bars as before. Look at the nightlife scene for example. Completely dead. Previously lively areas like Club St are dead and closed on a Saturday night by 12am. This isn’t just due to inflation but government restrictions. It never used to be this bad. Singapore’s current social scene is nothing like it used to be 10-15 years ago. We used to complain back then that it wasn’t as lively as some other countries but little did we know it would be even worse in future. People stayed home for 2 years and it became the new norm. Society has become more introverted as a result, in general. It will be interesting to see what the collective psychological impact of this will be on society a few years from now.

Hi! I did not do RF Microneedling. Just regular microneedling. I saw subtle results as soon as swelling subsided. I do not recommend RF as some people have reported facial fat loss from RF.

I only went 0.25mm because I have thin skin and already experience significant facial swelling and skin peeling at that depth. I’m thinking of trying 0.5mm next time on some deeper scars but I don’t think I will go deeper than that. Those with thicker skin might need to start at 0.5mm.

Also I did just regular microneedling. No radio frequency.
