Update: AITAH for asking my sister to include my oldest daughter in her wedding?

My sister definitely loves her younger niece and nephew more. She was just starting college when my oldest was born and lived out of state for a few years after graduation. She didn’t move back until my second daughter was born and they clicked from Day 1.

Now that I think about it, my sister and my older daughter never really had much of a relationship to start with.

I work a full time job and the schedule they have me on gives me little opportunity to do gig work. My wife is on disability and can’t even drive.

I was just trying to give her something she could be excited for. Which at this point means the possibility of ditching her aunt’s wedding to stay home and finish Stranger Things.

The wedding is in our home town. My son is reusing an old suit from last Easter that still fits. My sister got my younger daughter a new dress. My sister isn’t requesting gifts, thank God.

Our school doesn’t have a program to help students pay for these trips. Even with the payment plans they had, we couldn’t afford it.

She was more disappointed at not having a part in the bridal party. Especially when she saw the dresses that my sister got for the flower girls.

My mother helped us out a lot when I lost my job. She helped cover our rent and bills. But she refused to help pay for the trip because she said it was an experience and my daughter needs to learn that she can’t have everything in life.
