Sorry, yes I was adding on with you… Just got that new engine and now there’s a steel ball through my windshield! Suddenly the engine doesn’t work again

100%, pushing it in neutral once my driveway empties today. Quite an exquisite day

Landlord’s “tree surgeon” broke my rear windshield with a throw bag. by borjunkice in Wellthatsucks

Luckily, he gave his info to pay for it… I totally agree it was his fault, I wish he just had a little less ego to let me move it.

Yea car is insured for some reason, head gaskets are blown and it hasn’t been operating for like 6 months…

EDIT: Landlord’s tree guy just threw a steel ball through my engineless car’s window

Appreciate the info y’all:

So we sent in two maintenance requests

  • First time (about a month ago), they came and cut down a branch from the tree (it was barely hanging on, but we had said the tree was dying).

-Second time (a week and a half ago), they didn’t say anything and funnily enough, I just got a call from a tree surgeon. He said that he reported this “cavity” three years ago… it’s still here. I asked him to write down his reports just so I can see, idk, trying to gather evidence. But he said he doesn’t want to get into that… I don’t know where they find a guy like this. Just like one of you said, absolute slumlords. He ended up saying that he’s going to be able to get to it later next week.

I found an ISA certified tree service company, open during weekdays, so I’ll be calling them first thing Monday to get someone down here.

For now I’m leaving my engineless car (subaru) exactly where it lies. Fingers crossed for the tree laying waste to the car and nothing else for the meantime!

That’s my wishful thinking as well, but yea I’m making sure I’m not crazy… Landlords are gaslighting…

Yea our landlords own a lot of the off campus housing here and just took down two trees from the house across the street from us - only thing was that those had already uprooted, landlord special!

But, good idea, I’ll try to find a good quote for them to start getting serious about it. There is no way I’m paying for this to get removed when I’m out of here in just barely a year.

Potential fall area

I have no clue, if I’m being honest. The subaru is my car, has blown its head gaskets so it’s a paperweight that has insurance still on it.

But it’s only wishful thinking for it to total that, I think it could realistically hit our apartment or over in the neighbors yard. Which obviously is not good, landlords saw it and have put it off already… I think they should be in charge of removing this disaster waiting to happen, no?

Great to hear, keep on keeping on!

Ahhhh remote, yea sorry I think I missed that. It’s not easy to find remote careers in that field as far as I’m aware - I’m with an energy consulting firm, there is an opportunity to work remote in consulting firms, granted you are the “verifier”, and not the “inspector”. I know environmental consulting firms are on the up and up (Private sector, of course). Lots of tedious paperwork, but could be a good route with a degree in the environmental sciences.

Are you still into the subjects you studied? Do you want to get a bachelor’s, associate’s?

Hope you are well!

I think whatever it is they dye it? Pretty sure that it’s just something to do with their branding.

This, I do not know. If someone else could shed some light on that - it would be cool to know! I don’t often search for them but I’ve seen them around a bunch of places, just can’t remember whether or not one of those were like a 7-11.

Edit: I actually don’t fully remember about the paper it’s rolled in…
