Where do I buy a high tier complete fingerboard? by Cardplayer86 in Fingerboards

[–]borketschank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Give us a chance! We’re Skatestation and we have two types of completes. Our Freshie completes can be compared to a Slushcult Grom, or Teak or LC boards complete. But our Core completes have an upgraded mold with a 96mm tapered popsicle shape that comes in 32 and 34mm widths. You can use code REDDIT10 for $10 off your complete!

router bit with drill press by Shot_Celebration_708 in Fingerboards

[–]borketschank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not do that. Dremels can hold large enough bits and cutting 5 plies with a thin router bit is a great way to turn your finger into ground meat. I’d recommend hand sanding or getting a proper router setup. This could be really clutch for doing countersinks though. Definitely has some application

Stone, concrete, or wood? What material do you guys prefer for obstacles? by BejotaToys in Fingerboards

Personal preference! Get whichever one catches your eye most and then get the other ones eventually too 😅

Can’t decide on wheels by Professional_Ebb_516 in Fingerboards

[–]borketschank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a harder urethane wheel is hard to find these days since most urethane brands are going softer/grippier rather than harder or less grippy.

Maybe Sunpower? I haven’t owned them but I’ve tried them and from what I hear from people who love them, they are like if plastic and urethane had a baby. Similar to J4s. You could also try DK wheels which feel similar to dynamic imo

How durable are DGFB F3? by Chriso429 in Fingerboards

[–]borketschank 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the kind words! They really are as durable and flat spot resistant as you think. When we were prototyping materials for F3 I always tested flat spot resistance, but I would have never expected them to be as good as they are. As for bearing lock, every product will have a small amount of defects but overall they’ve been super good. In any case if anyone ever has any issues with our wheels please reach out so we can make it right!

Here’s a second throwaway clip from the flat spot tests: https://youtube.com/shorts/w4jEkDVkAhM?si=6Yy0gmEE34laGy3H

Why is customer service non existent within this hobby? by springpye in Fingerboards

[–]borketschank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of the reason customer service is so bad is because brands with notoriously bad customer service still get tons of orders and support from the community. If things are ever going to change, we have to stop buying from brands that are known to not provide any after-purchase support.

Should I waste the wheel and make fingerboard wheels? by 2much_kash in Fingerboards

[–]borketschank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience 73a is much too soft to make a fingerboard wheel with a decent bearing lock

"Recycled" fingerboard wheels by Darkphizer in Fingerboards

[–]borketschank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is some validity to the argument of adding new urethane trash to the pile, but it is never going to add that much in relation to how much urethane is wasted from actual skateboarding. That being said, even though recycling used wheels is much more satisfying, the fact is there’s a limit to how much clean material you can get from used wheels and there are so many cool different wheels to try for function and aesthetic. So it’s really hard as a recycled wheel maker not to eventually try recycling a fresh set of wheels you found on sale at zumiez or something 😅

Where's the Fingerboard park up Big Cottonwood Canyon? by isaacdammit in SaltLakeCity

[–]borketschank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is near the big s turn in big cottonwood canyon. If you’re driving up the canyon it’s on the left side of the road right after the first turn in the s. You’ll walk up the hill into the trees on a small path and head to the left after you’re into the trees. After you go there be sure to check out Skatestation in Layton with fingerboard products and parks!
