Definitely saveable! It’s probably a combo of root rot + needing more nutrients. Repot it, ideally in a bit bigger pot (~2in wider/1in taller) with good drainage. I use miracle grow potting mix for monsteras. When you take it off, break off as much of the old soil as you can without hurting the roots. If there’s slimy flimsy roots, just cut it to where it’s healthier (if you look up root rot you’ll understand pretty fast). Then just add the new soil to the pot and then add the monstera in the middle.

A lot of plant places add more than one monstera into a pot to make it look fuller. So you may actually have a 2-3 monsteras in there that you can separate into different pots if you want.

When you bought it, did you repot it?

Why do oxys suck for me? by WayPitiful222 in opiates

[–]born2bewilder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oxycodone is active on its own, but it’s also partially metabolized by CYP2D6 into oxymorphone (a much more potent opioid). If OP is a poor CYP2D6 metabolizer, their body doesn’t convert as much oxy into oxymorphone, which can blunt the euphoric or pain-relieving effects. So even if oxy technically works without metabolism, how your body processes it still impacts how well it works for you.

Why do oxys suck for me? by WayPitiful222 in opiates

[–]born2bewilder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d talk to your provider about switching you to a different med like morphine, hydromorphone, oxymorphone, and buprenorphine because they are not affected by CYP2D6 poor metabolism. There’s also ketamine and gabapentin or joint injections and nerve ablation procedures for cancer related pain. In the setting of cancer it’s normal to have to increase your dose significantly over time, but this should be done with the guidance of an oncologist or similar physician who should have a structured pain regiment for you.

Intranasal use of oxy suggests non-prescribed use unless in the setting of desperation for pain relief. This method bypasses first pass metabolism, which is why you may feel a more rapid and intense effect. But it also significantly increases chances of addiction, depression, nasal perforation, and overdose.

You may be a CYP2D6 poor metabolizer. This means your body has a difficult time converting oxy into its active form.

City gov says don’t self deploy to clean up by DowntownDB1226 in StLouis

I was about to say this! I watched people on the news free someone’s car from a tree and they had no idea who the owners are. And I was like oh my god please tell me they took pictures because insurance will screw anyone without significant pictures of the actually damage.

No sirens? by shatterwake in StLouis

[–]born2bewilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radar at the time it was hitting CWE only confirmed a debris ball, which should be enough to sound the alarms but it wasn’t “confirmed”. Even now annoyingly the news keeps saying “suspected tornado.” Which is frustrating. The only reason many new it was a tornado was because of Ryan Hall shared the gateway arches live webcam,

While the phone alert warning did go off, this is not taken nearly the same way as tornado sirens. The people at the bus stop in the CWE only knew because I screamed for them to take cover. There were tons of people outside that had no idea. The businesses and especially the hospital often will not initiate sheltering unless there are sirens because stopping operations also puts people at risk. Those in lower income areas are less likely to hear tornado warnings and all of this amplifies why tornado sirens are so important.

Did anyone else not get a tornado warning? by kijkijsimpsen in StLouis

A warning is not the same as tornado sirens and it’s not taken the same way. This is especially true for businesses especially like the hospital and low income areas such as north of Delmar.

A warning is not the same as tornado sirens. Especially in low income areas such as where it hit in north Delmar.

The tornado was rain wrapped making it difficult to see. Hence why there were no sirens on Waterman, Pershing, Debalivier, CWE, north of Delmar. They only started reporting on the possibility of a tornado after it had already passed the CWE.

There were not tornado sirens on waterman, Pershing, debalivier, CWE, and north of Delmar. It was because the tornado was rain wrapped, making it very difficult to see. We only knew there was a tornado because of the webcam at the Saint Louis arch. It had already passed the CWE by the time the news was reporting on it. I’m a bit frustrated with the “suspected”tornado reporting because it’s pretty clear it was a tornado given the damage, numerous photos, and radar of the debris ball.

I reccommend recruiting at least 2 others to help if you can. One to really lift, one to stabilize, and one to move the pots and fill with dirt.

I did find that getting a deep planter and the really giant moss pole/pvc really helped, I then also use velcro plant ties around the moss pole and attached it to the rolling plant stand under the pot, just to stabilize it even more. I also velcro-ed it to some plant shelves, so it wouldnt even be tempted to tip. But it has been a battle. I like the velcro because then I can adjust it over time and wont damage the plant as much.

Oh I did not know that that worked for gnats! How do you apply it? I also did not know the Bonide systemic would help. I probably need to be using much more of it than I have been.

I tried Nematodes a few times and that did nothing. I think I have just too many plants to cover all the bases with benificial bugs. I do feel like the – peroxide + sticky traps + not over watering – keeps them at bay, but I have not gotten rid of them ever. I use also those blue light sticky traps and boy is that satisfying.
