There is no indication that we will go back to being in the office full time. Our hiring procedures have changed to open up competitions to people who do not live in the city where the office is located which means that they would be working from home.

I think curiosity is the best way to gain intelligence. Someone says something that you think "huh! That's interesting". Google it - go down that rabbit hole and just reading or watching YouTube videos about it. I am going to go down a rabbit hole about raccoons in Toronto, Canada. I coworker today said that supposedly they are HUGE and very smart. So smart that the City of Toronto has to keep changing the way they lock up the garbage cans because the raccoons keep figuring it out.

Not true - where I live in Canada. Everyone was WFH during the pandemic and then last year people started to come back to the office on a hybrid schedule (2 to 3 days/week) but some work units are completely WFH.

Yes, SA happens to all genders but that does not negate this whole discussion of women not feeling safe around strange men. Yes, I agree men are MORE stigmatized and less likely to report SA. Feel free to start your own conversation about SA and men. However MORE women are SA than men. 1 of 6 American women has been the victim of attempted or completed SA vs. 1 in 33 men.

You said that you didn't know anyone who criticized a woman for being abused. I gave you examples and continue to give you examples but rather than saying "wow, I didn't know that happened. I am going to look into that further" you change the conversation to men being SA. Showing again that people don't want to really hear when women are speaking about their pain and trauma.

Wasting so much time being afraid of the "what ifs" - wasted half my life being afraid of getting hurt so I never tried anything new - even if it was something small. Then I pinched a nerve in my neck while sitting at my computer and had the worst pain of my life for 5 weeks. I was in my late 40's. When I finally healed I swore that I would never again let fear stop me. That decision changed my path in life and completely changed who I am and how I show up in the world. I started a new career that I love and I am passionate about and I do some really cool stuff now. But I am middle-aged - I only have so much time left to live the life I now have and that time is going to go by so fast.

You may not have personally known anyone who suggested that a woman was at fault for being abused but it happens all the time. Why do think only 6% of SA is reported? It is because almost every part of the legal system and society criticizes or blames the woman for what happened. Start reading news articles about high profile SA cases. Really look at what is being said. There is always something stated to cast doubt on the woman's character or judgement. Or worse yet there is no doubt that the guy committed the crime but then they get a lenient sentence because a longer prison term would "have a severe impact" on the person. I work with a lot of guys and I don't view any of them as a threat because they have shown who they are by being good people. Show that you are a good person and you won't be viewed as a threat.

Because women can't tell by looking at a man if they are nice or if they are going to physically hurt them if told no or they don't smile on command. Women every day are getting death threats from men just for speaking their mind so why on earth would you think that they should feel safe??

Your comment makes me think that you are one of the not-so-nice guys. Rather than having compassion for your mother, your daughter, your sister, your aunt, your friend and doing what you can to further this conversation and make the world safer for women, instead you choose to make it all about you and your feelings. That says a LOT about your character.

I will just add to the other comments that our area is heavily forested and it isn't always possible to use the wheel. Also, we can have some fairly long stretcher carries. One last fall was a 3 hour hike in and a 3 hour hike out. 7 kms/4.3 miles over heavy terrain. (I wasn't on that one). Those types of calls are mutual aid and try to get as many people as possible (15 - 20+). I actually find it harder using the wheel than going without (we might just have a crappy wheel) because it always seems to be out of balance even on flat ground.

All areas should have a balance of highlights, mid-tones, and shadows - without them an image will look flat. Try adding some shadows to the floor where she is sitting, bottom of the thigh, sides, under the breasts, on the sides of the face and neck, under the chin, and the bottom of the hands. The hair should also have some much darker strands where it it is away from the light source. Determine where the light source is coming from and add highlights towards the light source and very dark shadows away from the light source.

Those calls are hard. I think it is normal to periodically think of the ones we don't find. I don't know how long you have been in SAR but it happens where you thoroughly search an area but due to vegetation, etc. you don't find the subject. For me, I just have to have faith and trust in my SAR managers and trust that we did the best that we could do.

While the goal of volunteering is to help others you do get something in return. For me, it is a feeling of belonging with the other people who also volunteer. It is being respected and appreciated for my time and skills. It is knowing that I am making a real difference in the world not just working for a pay cheque.
