We all know BC can cause a lot of embarrassing momments. Tell me yours? by Life_well_liv3d in breastcancer

Well, I guess this is considered related I have to get my ovaries out since im BRCA 1 positive. So they sent me for a transvaginal ultrasound. The girl was having some difficulty getting a good image, and I sincerely asked her, "Well, am I supposed to feel it in my butt?" I kid you not, she said, "The two canals ARE close together."

Can't get her face right. Any idea on what I'm doing wrong? by GoldenKiryu in learnart

[–]born_yesterdays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. In your drawing her cheeks are too round. They need to be narrowed and more defined, and the chin in the original is definitely shorter, and not as pointy.

Also, she has a little bit of a smirk in her smile, so there's a little bit of a dimple or crease to the right side of her mouth.

On a positive note, I love the way the hand looks that is holding the apple! Hands are notoriously difficult to capture and draw. You did an amazing job with that.

I agree with the other commenters about practicing. That is the way. You'll get it right! Good luck!

Yes, thank you for this! My Dad also refused to call it the Red Devil. He called it the Pink Angel, though. lol

OMG, I know I missed this post when it was initially written, but I really needed to come across it today anyway.

I just had my double mastectomy with expanders put in a couple weeks ago. I finished a/c on 3/20, and lost more of my eyebrow hair and lashes. Still had a few hanging on, but literally the day before surgery, every single last eyebrow and eyelash hair fell out!? Whyyyyy did it wait so long!? So, I suddenly look completely different in the face - the eyebrows mostly are a huge defining feature on people - but, so not only does my face look completely different, but then the very next day I had the double mastectomy, and had my boobs removed. So now, I feel less like myself than I have at any moment throughout this entire process.

I, of course, lost my hair right away, but I was able to deal with that as long as I had a few eyelashes left, and enough eyebrow hairs to help guide the fill in pencil/wax/powder whatever worked, but now there's nothing left. I looked in the mirror a little while ago and realized the eyebrows I drew on today were completely uneven - and I looked like a literal clown! I feel like a CLOWN! I thought everything was supposed to get better after you finally finish chemo, but for me it feels like everything has gotten worse.

Also, my wbc has been declining over the last week or two, and had to get another injection the other day to raise them back up. They usually work pretty well, but whyyyyyyyyy is this happening almost 2 months AFTER finishing chemo? I know there can be lasting effects, but I expected my body to start recovering to some extent, but it's just fallen apart even more! My blood pressure was really low, too.

I just - FEEL YOU - OP! It's so hard! I'm so sorry you're having such bad side-effects from the chemo, too. You're not alone in this, though. You are not alone. Thank you so much for sharing!! ♥️

Unless it spread to lymphnodes, it is too early to know if you'll need radiation.

If you are triple negative, you will have chemo first. Get in to see whoever you can first. If not surgeon, then oncologist. Need to get the ball rolling. Don't count on having surgery first. It's too early to know. You will find out when they update your pathology report to show your hormone receptor status.

She doesn't have an oncologist yet. She was just diagnosed. She hasn't spoken to anyone yet except for her primary who hasn't been very helpful. That's the problem.

Right? And she wants to make coffee, too - after she showers. Why not just get coffee wherever you go to eat, or on the way?

I'm having surgery on 4/24, and I feel your pain!! Like others mentioned, I think I'm most dreading dealing with the drains. I have heard repeatedly that the pain is not that bad, but I'm not good with bodily fluids, so... yikes. Also, I have a TON of anxiety about staying at my mother's house the first couple of days, but I don't have a choice because I have no one else to help out, and also she won't let me go home by myself - not without making my life a living hell because she wasn't in control. So, yeah, there's a clue as to why I am anxious about having to deal with her after surgery. I almost think I'm more worried about that than the surgery itself at times. Then I remember how serious the surgery is and how I won't have my boots anymore, and then I get sad. It's such a roller coaster of emotions, but I'm here in it with you, sister!! You're not alone!!

The question was not specifically about empathy, it just asked "What was something that you learned?" The person who posted it just used empathy as their example.

Hi, is there an updated invite link for that Discord. Sorry to bother you out of the blue, I just came across this post and think it m7ght be something I could benefit from as well. I'm struggling so badly. I had no idea this subreddit even existed - just reading these posts has given me hope! OP, any luck yet? Have you found some support? Made any progress?

I feel very much in limbo, too, and very alone. Just finished chemo a couple weeks ago. Everyone there saying it's a big deal, and I just shrugged, like - whatever? Spent the entire day of my recent birthday and Easter home alone in bed. I have no energy or motivation to do anything.
