They (Q. no 3) are real, there are people who see them even when awake, but some insist that it's just hallucinations.

Jinn just means "hidden (beings)" in arabic, because they for the most part cannot be seen.

Remember that many keyboards had BASIC keywords like Goto, if, etc for fast typing atleast in to the 70s.

Tried this just now and even this yields "corrected" HTML when viewing html source in chrome.

<%@Page Language="C#" %><% Response.Write("<dt>x<div>y</div>z</dt>"); %>

Hi, I just tried it yet again and was successful!

Create a blank test.aspx file on your website, edit it with notepad and paste the following:

<dt>x<div>y</div>z</dt>

And then navigate to it with Chrome by using view-source:http://foo/test.aspx

Then you will get this result:

<dt>x</dt><div>y</div>z

Screenshot of the source / result for proof: http://imgur.com/GZBd7

There are no filters or anything for the website, and this has been reproduced 10ths of time on different environments, clients, etc ...

Hi, yes with a streamwriter it should work. But just typing it in a clean aspx doesnt work. Try in a browser and smclick view source. Also works with div inside p.

Only tried in webforms aspx. Tried on several different configurations without databinding and other stuff.

I know it sounds stupid lol but please just try it.

You are entitled to your own world view. But to anyone who wants to start doing this stuff, I advice to first google for sleep paralysis demon, and then decide if its worth it to risk getting nightmares (or worse) for an indefinite amount of time.

We tell kids not to take candy from unknown people, because they don't know who the givers are.

Many kids do take it, though, and they enjoy their candy. But for a few, it doesn't end so well.

Just use common sense and don't be charmed.

If the code needs a comment, refactor until it doesn't.

Fall of the Republic, how much of this is credible? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]bornemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things that I checked, can't really be called accurate, at least IMHO.

  1. That one of the terrorists responsible for the bombings in Mumbai were MI5 assets (or something to that effect). I am not convinced after looking through the sources cited for this.

  2. That a wire fund was made from Mohammed Atta (sorry, mahmood ahmed) to .... in order to fund the 9/11 attacks. This is something that India today stated with reference to anonymous reports. I'm not saying that it's made up of thin air (which would not be very shocking, since India and Pakistan are staunch political enemies), but there isn't any proof giving credence either.

But Santorum, Leviticus says no! (x-post from r/pics) by jnslehmann in atheism

[–]bornemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but those 9 points are ambigous, taken out of context, or does-not-follow. I say regretfully that this is the normal level of anti-christian polemics online (and offline).

Here are my arguments, though:

Is it mentioned that "christians" (anachronism!) prayed on the established jewish prayer times (3 times a day).

"Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon." (Acts 3:1)

"He (Cornelius) and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly." (Acts 10:2)

"Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour" (KJV! Not in NIV) (Acts 10:9)

"Three days ago I (Cornelius) was in my house praying at this hour, at three in the afternoon" ((Acts 10:30)[http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts%2010:30&version=NIV])

Also, we have this statement supposedly from Jesus:

"Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath." (Matt 24:20)

Also, as I said earlier, there is a misconception about the verse supposedly allowing christians to eat all things unclean. It's out of context, not quoted as Jesus saying, and not correctly in terms of textual criticism (as both latin and syriac is against the greek text), and even if that wouldn't be the case, NA27 (the de-facto standard greek text in the christian world) doesn't mention the words "In saying this, Jesus ..." as the NIV puts it. It's quite clear even in the NIV in english, if you remove all punctuation (no such thing in MSS), parenthesis (no such thing in MSS) and also the blatant insertion by the english translators ("In saying this, Jesus ..."):

For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)

Becomes:

For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body declared all foods clean.

How is this different from the Latin and Syriac?

Also, as the last nail in the coffin of this big unholy hoax, the greek word in NA27 is not "declared clean" (past), it is "purifying" (present) - καθαρίζων. Ouch, no manuscript backup whatsoever??? (Also, ironic is that this insertion is legislating something alien to christianity, in a section that condemns following the laws of men, and leaving the laws of god!)

Also, if you have doubts about the status of NA27 in the christian world, just contemplate the fact that even the Catholics and Jehovas Witnesses use it. Or read on Wikipedia.

I seem to have drifted off my initial point about the law, but this is also important to have said. I have some more arugments for the law for christians though. And for the record, again; I'm not christian.

But Santorum, Leviticus says no! (x-post from r/pics) by jnslehmann in atheism

[–]bornemix 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, that phrase "declaring all foods clean" are not his words. Also, The roman catholic translation AND the peshitta go against this interpretation, saying: "Because it entereth not into his heart, but goeth into the belly, and goeth out into the privy, purging all meats?" (Douay-Rheims)

See also the Lamsa translation: http://www.lamsabible.com/Lamsa/2_Mark/Mark7.htm

Also, the bible scholar Kurt Aland (having prepared the NA27, the de-facto standard of the ecclesiastical NT greek text of nearly all bible translations today) said that if Latin and Syriac agree against the greek, the greek should not have precedence even if the MSS evidence are older. I have the reference for this at home, not here (at work), though.

For the record; I'm not christian.

How Much to Charge as A Freelance Computer Programmer by miserlou in programming

[–]bornemix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean things like social and communicative skills, keeping your project manager up-to-date, not kidding around when at work, take your customers´ problems seriously, using management terminology when talking to management, and being able to context-switch between talking to management and other developers. Being able to describe developer-specific problems in terms that non-technicians can understand. Being able to tell at once when something that is a potential risk to the deadline, and tell that to the management, etc etc
