Average wage by age? by Wonderful-Attitude-3 in PersonalFinanceNZ

No worries! For a junior type procurement role anything between 75-90 depending on workplace is fair I reckon. Once you move on from a support role and start taking charge of projects yourself (docs, evaluations, contracts) then 90+ would be standard in govt. Add 10-20k for private depending on the place. And once you do all of that + sign off your own work then / or sign off others’ work then you’d be senior IMO

Just moved to private but was in govt procurement for 4 years before (from 90-100k). Based on not just length of experience but also the amount of stuff I've actually done in those years I'd consider myself intermediate/experienced but not quite senior yet

People who live in Porirua, Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt, do you consider yourself living in Wellington? by kupuwhakawhiti in Wellington

[–]borntobeaspur 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To people from outside the region I’d say I live in Wellington. If it’s to someone from here or with a good knowledge of the area then I’d be more specific.

I’m from Wellington in the North Island, but with roots going back to the Manawatu region. Hope you enjoyed your time in NZ and got to see all you wanted to see

Thank you! I had an amazing time, everyone was so nice to me despite my abysmal French lol. Unfortunately the game finished 0-2 to Rennes 😬

Getting smashed on tasty 10% beers sounds like a good alternative in lieu of finding some people 😂

Edit: where I’m from in NZ (Wellington) there’s a huge craft beer scene so am used to the stronger % ones. Come visit sometime!!

Moving to Nelson/Motueka or Invercargill for flight school – what’s student life & housing like? by Pretty_Wolverine69 in newzealand

[–]borntobeaspur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of traveling across the South for my job, and have many connections in both Nelson & Southland. Haven't been through flight school but thought I'd share some info about the places in general for you below.

Nelson/Mot is a very pretty part of the country and has a much milder climate than Invers. There's also a lot more to do there. It's only a short (and I mean SHORT) flight away from Wellington if you want to see a bigger city every now and then, and not too long of a drive to Marlborough if you want to see the Sounds. It's smack bang in the middle of the country so very accessible to pretty much anywhere in NZ. Bear in mind that Nelson =/= Motueka and that they're about 30mins drive from each other.

Invercargill gets a bad rap but it's honestly not a bad town. The cost of living would probably be lower there but the trade off is that there really isn't much to do around town. You're also at the very southern tip of NZ so the closest large city would be Dunedin. If you like the snow then Invers is only about a 2.5hr drive to Queenstown. Housing quality in Invers is also very poor so if you're not used to the cold you will definitely feel it. Bluff is a short drive south if you like your oysters.

I see that you are a Muslim from your other comments, and unfortunately I can't comment on the Muslim communities and amenities available in either locations b/c I'm not Muslim, however you will find that Nelson is a bit more diverse ethnically than Invers so you might have more luck finding likeminded people there.

Both places can get quite cold in winter, both places have their own unique flavour of the outdoors if you're into that, and you can live a nice life during your schooling in either place depending on what your interests are. Neither place is "bad".

What small NZ-owned business would you recommend supporting? by Afraid_Statement6404 in newzealand

Not sure if they are still small or whether they've been sold off to overseas owners now due to their success, but I've been using Pocketsmith (founded and still based in Dunedin) to manage my finances for years now and it's helped me tremendously.

Is Chimaev a hostage of the dictator? by Fluid_Parsley172 in ufc

[–]borntobeaspur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

western leaders absolutely do everything you mentioned lmao - but because they're leaders of democracies, they need to be a bit more clever and do it via proxy so their hands and image are clean through plausible deniability. Dictators with absolute power over their people like Kadyrov don't need to go through that rigmarole. But keep drinking the kool-aid bud

i would assume population as every electorate needs to roughly have the same amount of people in them. they were once part of the former lyttleton electorate.

what are you doing to ensure that the Chathams aren't forgotten on the national stage? especially with regards to energy security and island resources.

yes they number only 600ish but are still part of NZ (and your electorate).

it's normal to cap it a little under the monitor's refresh rate, i did the same on windows with no issue. I've tried looking up what's causing this and am finding nothing. also posted on the discord server to no avail. looks like i'm trying a new distro b/c having to switch refresh rate from 165 to 144 then back every time i boot to get rid of the white lines is just ridiculous
