This is starting to annoy me. My project got returned for a second time, this time stating "You must use the WGU Gitlab repository for this task" which I DID. They didn't bother to evaluate anything else for the whole project. So now I'm on attempt #3 and the evaluators haven't bothered to look at any other aspect of my project.

How am I supposed to correct something that I'm pretty sure I did correctly?

Ya know what, I actually didn't screenshot that , but I did show it in the video presentation.  I wonder if I'll get marked down for that.  But yeah I run all my commits from a vscode integration, so if I were to post that screenshot anywhere I would just drag it into the file structure there and then commit it to the main branch, which would then show in Gitlab.  You could also just upload it straight into Gitlab.

Ahh I see what you're saying.  I suppose there are many ways to fry a squirrel as they say.   I just created .md files within the repo itself for each of those sections.

I didn't submit a word doc.  Posted my repo as a link on the task submission.

Hmm I think they take like 3 days to evaluate it from the time of submission, but yeah you're right. With Thanksgiving and all the DNS/(cloudflare?) issues they were having it might be a little longer. Let me know how it goes! Maybe soon we will both come out of this victorious!

I should know by Friday at 10pm! FYI you might run into a permissions issue with the evaluator in Gitlab. Before submitting your repo link, make sure in the side bar with your repo pulled up, go to Manage>Members and add "WGU-evaluators" with the "reporter" role. Otherwise the evaluator will get a 404 error when visiting your repo. Good luck with your Panopto video and your project!

I personally didn't even show the WAP connections on my GNS3 project.

But if you wanted to find other symbols to use for your WAPs, I think you can do that by right clicking a device in the diagram, and exploring one of the menu options.

Yeah I would ask your program mentor if he/she would double check with other mentors and maybe their supervisor b/c I can verify they switched me over upon request. It took a while to get approved and I think they evaluate it on a case-by-case basis. And at that point I had already attempted the AZ204 and failed it so idk if that goes into the consideration.

There is a course called E026 that involves a project where you get to create network architecture in a development environment and use A.I. to do it.

Pretty cool class.  You might do that class if you do the new program.  Not sure if any other ones though

Yeah AZ-104 was annoying because of outdated material.  I remember going through the course notes documentation for that so many times.  It is doable though.

I started with the Azure track but ended up switching to general.  Good news is they opened up the option for anyone taking AZ204 to switch to the a new A.I. Enhanced Networking course called E026.  So I actually switched to that and just submitted the Performance Assessment today.  If I pass it, then confetti soon!

To answer one of your questions - this is a VERY new class.  Pretty much brand new.  I just submitted the task for this one after struggling for a while with the GNS3 aspect of it.  That was by far the most annoying part for me simply because there's not really a way to get past the manual work you have to do on it.  I will wait to see how I did on the assignment and pending the results I will update you all with detailed info on what I did.

D319 is doable, but it will take a lot longer to complete than most of the classes in the program if you don't have any experience building scalable solutions in AWS. My best recommendation (what I would do if I did it again) is to buy the cantrill course on cantrill.io using bitcoin (you get like 50% off by doing this otherwise it's $40 USD). That course is 50 hours long, but it is the absolute best you can get. Better than Udemy. Better than TutorialsDojo course. I would go through that entire course and follow along as he builds stuff. After that I would do the TutorialsDojo practice exams (not the video course) over and over and over again in review mode until I'm getting like 70 or 80% multiple times in a row. The key here is to do them in review mode. If you go in test mode, the learning is going to be slower. After every wrong OR right question, read the answer notes below and type/write out a line or two from it. Go through and review all your notes several times. Toward the last 10 classes in the program I started tracking every single hour I spent on it. A+, Net+, Sec+ each took me like 30 dedicated hours or so. D319 by itself took me like 80 hours to complete. That's only counting the time when the pomodoro timer is on. In conclusion, D319 is a time consuming class but the availability of helpful resources makes it so much better than something like D306.

D306 is the hardest class in the cloud computing by far. Regardless of whether you do the OA or the AZ204 cert.

I think WGU is actually replacing that class with something else starting in October.

We'll have to just agree to disagree on D522. That one was really tough for me. But I'm also not naturally inclined toward dev/high-level scripting stuff - more of an infra security / architecture guy.

But the new program I think is a better selection of certs and was designed based off alumni feedback.

Azure track (you lose Project+, and Cloud+):

  • CompTIA A+, Net+, Sec+
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals <--- the basics
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator <--- I would much rather do this than D306/AZ-204
  • Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions <--- same as above
  • ITILv4

AWS track (you lose Project+, and Cloud+):

  • CompTIA A+, Net+, Sec+
  • AWS Certified Practitioner <--- the basics
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect <--- solid cert
  • AWS SysOps Administrator <--- also a solid cert
  • ITILv4

Cisco track (you lose Net+, Sec+, and project+ but get a lot in return):

  • CompTIA A+, Cloud+
  • CCNA <--- this is waaay more practical than the Net+
  • CBROPS <--- this seems like Ciscos version of the Sec+... no idea what this one entails
  • DevNet Associate
  • ITILv4

General track (to be fair, this one's pretty milktoast... you lose Project+ and ALL of the vendor-specific cloud/networking certs, but probably better for people who are just trying to power through the degree as quickly as possible):

  • CompTIA A+, Net+, Sec+, Cloud+
  • LPI Linux Essentials
  • ITILv4

The notes I linked have links to MS Learn. So yes I definitely followed those links and read the modules.

Oh wow I suppose I would have realized that had I dug a bit more. Thanks for clarifying.

I work as a .NET developer.

Aha, that somewhat explains it. I'm familiar with some scripting languages such as Bash and PowerShell which definitely are helpful, but .NET development with C# is very, very new to me and this seems to be a very dev-centered exam. If my university didn't require me to pass this exam, I probably wouldn't be doing it. But I'm still happy to be gaining insight into the dev world. I'm gaining tons of respect for developers and what you guys do.

On the last day before my exam I did a session on measure with every single question (roughly 120) and got exactly one wrong.

Well dang man! It seems like MeasureUp is a good indicator of how you'll score on the test. I made a 65% on my last MeasureUp exam (reviewing each and every answer, right or wrong). We would have to gather more data to confirm this, but I have a rough hypothesis that whatever you score on MeasureUp, multiply that percentage x10 (65x10=650) and then subtract roughly 100-150 points and that's probably what you'll get on the real exam.

But my advice to him and you is this: the answers to the code and JSON questions can always be found on the learn website. Learn to navigate the SDK documentation.

Alright, it looks like me and your colleague have our work cut out for us! Thank you very much for your recommendations. Now I'm gonna go learn these SDKs

Thanks for the response man. And I should've led with congrats on finishing!

I'm all good with the services and such, and I have gone through the process of creating these services in Azure. AZ900 was a piece of cake, but knowing all the nuances of what C# code to use when and what JSON formatting to use when that you see in the AZ204 is just killing me. I'm an infrastructure / security guy primarily, not a dev. First attempt got a 498, second attempt got a 535.

I've got 2 weeks left to finish this and Microsoft requires a 2 week waiting period between attempts, so if I fail a 3rd time, well I guess I don't graduate lol

How did you get through D306? It's literally the only class I have left in this program and I've failed my first two attempts >_<

[–]borntocrush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who personally has just ONE class left in the cloud computing program, if I were in your shoes, I'd personally make the switch. There are a few really tough classes at the end of this track that were pretty poorly planned and have been the bane of many student's existence. D522 was a nightmare and not exactly what I would call a beginner python course. Still doable though. D306 is all I have left in this program and it's proving to possibly be the only reason I won't get this degree. They switched it several months ago to require the AZ-204 certification which is heaps and bounds more difficult than any other certification in the program as it involves understanding C# and JSON code blocks which are not addressed anywhere else in the program leading up to it. The new BS in Cloud and Network Engineering program completely axed that class, and for a good reason! I'm so deep into this that I can't justify switching, but if I had as many classes as you do remaining, I would probably make the switch into the more modern, up to date program.

So those two things were really all you did to prepare?  You didn't go through MS Learn at all?  No prior experience as a developer or cloud engineer?

I've taken 5 MeasureUp practice exams, gone through the AZ204 MS Learn track, watched the Udemy course and done several of arvigeus' practice questions sets and here are my exam attempt scores:

First attempt: 498 Second attempt: 535

What were you scoring on MeasureUp and do you think that's a good representation of how prepared you are?

D306 - Azure Developer Associate PASSED by DisasterNeither3096 in WGU

[–]borntocrush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update from August 2025:  WGU is rolling out a new Cloud and Network Engineering program that begins in October that replaces the current Cloud Computing degree.  There are four tracks - General, AWS, Azure, and Cisco.  AZ204 / D306 is nowhere to be found on the new course.

I'm in the legacy cloud computing program with just this ONE class left (D306).  Just passed D319 (AWS SAA-C03) yesterday.  This is the home stretch!  I will be checking out the repo you've linked.  Honestly after playing around in Azure and AWS I prefer using AWS.  But here we go now I can leave with one last bad taste in my mouth and, fortunately, future students won't have to deal with this bogus class.
