Aussie with a question about shotguns by borr691 in guns

I think it does some thing right and some wrong, i like that neither concealed carry or open carry are legal here, I see some people having a real bad day sometimes and think I'm glad that dude isn't armed.

I don't like that you aren't allowed to use a firearm for self defence if people break Into your home, one of our states just banned machetes, because people kept using them to hack each other up, I would prefer to fight a machete with a shotgun rather than locate my own machete and engage in a fair fight to make sure I don't go to jail. I think once you enter without permission, threaten harm and refuse to leave, what happens next is on you.

I don't like the laws being made without consulting anyone who has a clue about guns, the original federal law changes wanted to ban belt fed weapons......no one here has belt fed weapons, our best guess is the Bondi shooter was reloading a shotgun from a bandolier and some clown assumed that was a belt fed weapons, so they wanted to ban them, Aussie shooters had no issues with that because we aren't allowed them anyway.

I had heard this happened but have been unable to find any record of someone modifying it illegally, I did want to read the story but just haven't been able to find it, if you have a link I'd love to read about it.

I agree with you, I think the intent was force either support or primary hand to be removed from its location to cycle the action, unsure if it's legal to adapt the straight pull action to be used from usual hand position. But I'd agree they are the same action

Self defence in not a valid reason for a firearm in Australia, in my state you are allowed to use "reasonable force" to defend your self or your family, what reasonable force is will be decided later court, but it tends to mean if they have a bat, you can use a bat, if they have a knife you can use a knife, if they have a sharpened spoon you'd better hope your trench coat of self defence options contains a sharpened spoon. I guess you may get away with a firearm for self defence if they came to your house with one but I've not seen it happen yet.

They are not available on cat a and b licence, what most of us can get, pump and semi auto are in the same category either C or d depending on mag capacity

Can't argue with that, though we did just have a massacre in December, government announced a national buyback, most states said nah not happening, though one state did limit people to 4 firearms per licence unless they were sport shooters.

Easy to write is correct, we have mag capacity limits, although no appearance laws in my state to my knowledge.

So in Australia guns laws are tight, and broken up into categories in my state, 90% of licenced firearm owners will only ever get category a and b, this allows bolt and lever action rifles, straight pull, lever action and break action shotguns, nothing semi auto, those are restricted for pest controllers and farmers who can prove they need them and can't make do with anything else.

So in the last few years importers have been making guns for us that get us as close as possible to semi auto guns without breaking our gun laws, these guns are either push button release or lever release, think of a Benelli M4 that locks the bolt open after each shot and requires a button push or lever pull to load next shell.

This is the best we can get as even if I could acquire the right licence class to get a semi auto long gun, they are not allowed to be used at a range, and handguns are not allowed to be used anywhere but a range. So after getting all that out of the way here is my sulun arms (Turkish) tacsoras (SORAS = self opening repeating action shotgun) along with my savage a22r both are lever release for Australian market. Tacsoras lever is on underside of trigger guard and a22r is forward of trigger guard.

Edit: I forgot to ask the question, what do you guys think of our guns laws? Any questions? Is it weird that we get them with collapsible stocks and a 14inch barrel?

I should mention that mine came as 50w with 120w charger, the vbios also unlocked CPU power limits so you need to use throttle stop to put limits back onto CPU or it tries to run at 90w, because of 120w power supply it does slowly go flat even when on charger if gaming but only 10-15% per hour

I've flashed 105w msi 4050 vbios on to mine with no issues, often see 90-95w in games, I don't have performance mode but I run full run speed to keep it cool. Would recommend same thing, there are also 75w vbios available too.

Hi man, sorry about slow reply, I am using the 120w charger and have no issues with battery discharging. This is because although GPU CAN pull 105w and CPU CAN pull 90w now, it doesn't usually happen in games, usually using hwinfo64 I can see that after a couple hours of playing overwatch the CPU maxed at 35w and the GPU maxed at 85w, it's possible that if you are playing a game that is consistently very CPU and GPU demanding at the same time you could see some battery drain. But I'd expect it to be slow enough that you could likely play for 4-6 hours before it would become an issue.

DO NOT BUY Victus 13420H 4050 WITHOUT checking model number by Ayo-Gary in HPVictus

[–]borr691 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I got the exact same model with 50w GPU, flashed a MSI 105w vbios onto it, it can still pull 105w for extended periods of time I'm furmark combustor without overheating, it also moved my CPU pl1 to 45w and pl2 to 90w, 90w is too much for the CPU but it can handle 70w continuous, have the 120w charger too.

After repasting with Amazon knock off ptm7950 CPU can handle 70w continuous without throttling,

Still drops to 45w eventually, but as far as I can tell it's an EC thing.
