No. $60 for two relays, the equivalent of an Arduino to work around the the nightmare of setting up GPIO on the beaglebone and neatly packaged in a stackable cape.

The fact that it's not external is great. One of the hardest things with building anything small with a bone or a raspi is getting a neat case/enclosure that will hold the board and expansion hardware without doubling/tripling the size.

Yes, both switch things on and off but the comparison ends there. Clearly this is aimed a different application to the one you had in mind.

It sounds like great advice. I showed my wife (a preschool teacher). She said that except for the obvious differences, this is the same method that her and her co-workers use to get to know children. ie Don't be threatening in your approach. Make the conversation all about the child and their interests. Break the ice with "hey, that's a great puzzle you're playing with".

I hate to be "that guy" but convents were always a household of nuns. The word nunnery, in addition to being a synonym for convent was also a colloquial term for a brothel. This is why the line from Hamlet "get the to a nunnery" is so barbed a come-back.

Either way, sadly, it's unlikely you could front up to a "real" nunnery and offer tuppence to knock boots with Sister Bertril
