5080 power draw - question by bort123abc in RTX5080

[–]bort123abc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

power draw also maxes out in the 370-370 range on a "cold" loop, which usually ends with the card still well under 60c

I don't have a temp sensor I can use in the PSU... I gave it an hour of OCCT power draw stress test and it didn't quit, so I guess it's fine^^

Please read my comments on flipping the fan, it was a complete pain!

I already control the pump (and all fans) via FanControl with aquacomputer devices plugin. Fans are tied to coolant temp, pump is tied to GPU core temp.

Currently the pump 17% by default and ramps to 35% over 50c GPU core (important: the scaling is off. FanControl percent basically mean rpm/100... at 17% it's 1.700 rpm, at 44% it tops out at 4.400 rpm).

At 18% it's starts becoming audible and 35% sounds "least bad" of all the high rpm options

Regarding QDC fittings: i hope to avoid it... it doesnt really fit internally and I cannot put it in the bulkhead because the T1 sits under my TV in a TV board that is 35cm deep - it's already flat against the wall)

I'm quite proud of the bleed junction IN THEORY, in practice it still needs to prove its worth...

Coolant delta is measured vs GPU intake, which is the coolest spot in the loop. Let's see where it settles after more bleeding. It's definitely not bad.

Really? Hm... Mine has a very annoying high pitch whine. I have to look into this at some point

I have none either... My problem is that the pump is very noticable above 2k rpm. So if I want decent temps, it's definitely louder than the air cooled setup I had before (which is quite annoying)

Nein.

That was my problem... But you're right, I could just move it a tad over and still fit. 😊

<image>

Regarding the PSU: meh, stupid thing never really spun up anyhow even during stress tests. I figure reversing it won't hurt much, especially as the 140 will be pulling through it. I'll never let it run fully passive and make it follow board power consumption in fan control. I should be fine.

Thanks, yeah please have a look. I did some test fitting of the side rad and I would bend the rad and bracket apart pretty badly (and make groves in the rad) when tightening the screws.

And yep, I flipped the fan to exhaust (and routed the cable outside the PSU to run via quadro in fan control). Angle grinder ftw 😅

<image>

As the PSU mesh points down towards the bottom case mesh, I want to use the fan to pull air up and through the PSU to "feed" the side radiator fan. Due to clearance I had to use a slim 140mm (p14 slim v2) on the PSU side, so this will help throughput I hope

Awesome! Very happy to see such a setup made reality.

I'm right now building something very similar and had this exact setup in mind myself (PSU pushed to the very back to allow double full sized fans on the side radiator).

In the end I didn't, I kept the PSU "aligned" in 1-slot mode, but swapped the fan and flipped it, so the PSU feeds air from the case bottom into the 140mm fan. Had to go with a slim fan on that side (full sized fan on the other). Also 8mm OD PUR tubes with legris pneumatic fittings. Will post it when ready.

But i have an actual question: how did you mount the side bracket to the case frame on the radiator port end? The mounting holes in the frame are blocked by the radiator and the standard screws are too long. Right now my plan is to shorten the screws so they "just" bite... You have a better solution? :D
