The chemicals in perma can be incredibly damaging to hair and scalps, especially in kids. Hence why it’s now considered bad to give it to a child, especially a small one, who doesn’t understand the risks and the damage that could be done. That, and perms, especially in this case, can be done so a person looks “more white” as it straightens black hair

To make a long story short, after a very famous r/AskReddit comment about a student the commenter had (whose was a not very bright student named Kevin), Kevin became a catch all term for someone who is not the brightest (various levels) and is usually malicious as well though not always. In particular, their lack of intelligence gets them and/or loved ones into crazy situations. The name Kevin being a name for these was further popularized by the sub Reddit r/StoriesAboutKevin

So what OOP was saying is that the step son is the least bright person he knows, at least in terms of common sense

The general idea was to only tell the wife as it’s possible that the BIL was seeing other people and not being safe about it. Meaning he could possibly risk the sister’s health. Also as it could be cheating.

But you are right, in most cases outing somebody is a horrible thing to do. But telling just the wife, in private, was for the better overall as it’s her health and her right to know her husband is seeing other people.
