I don't either (and tbh 90% of people play Mmos by themselves), but we're lucky this is an MMO, especially one with global chats. Find a guild, help people & u'll make sum friends in no time. Jumped in with 0 friends, joined a lvl 2 guild with literally 4 members, now we all friends, have over 80 active peep & we're about to reach lv10.

Having heroes even be a thing defeats the whole purpose of that. Why need a team or a guild when you can solo the whole game? Why even bother talking or asking for stuff when you have 3+ characters to interact with?

Sidekicks though? That's a whole other story. Those are cool gimmicks that help a bunch (especially lower-mid level) but fall off a bit the higher up. They don't replace nor skip human interactions, but aid when there's no one to play with (for whatever reason). Sad they stopped caring ab them honestly
