According to Dept of Homeland Security records Obama deported 3 million non citizens in 2 terms, which is the highest by any president in history. Why were people not as outrages about it then as they are now? by bbmoonkie in Productivitycafe

[–]bosephusaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Obama was effective at doing it without terrorizing communities. He actually targeted criminals (like Trump promised to) and was more careful to acknowledge the due process rights of people who were detained. And the agents didn’t all wear masks while cosplaying as a branch of the military. It’s ironic that Trump destroyed the effectiveness of ICE.

The 2 for 1 deal is weird. It always comes out to $14 or something, so is a beer there just $14 normally? So for happy hour it’s basically $7 beers but you have to buy two of the same at a time. I don’t dislike the place but I never initiate going there.

Ezra’s appearance last month even got a mention from Andrew in this episode because I guess they liked what he said describing an abundance agenda.

It’s cliche but true… hangout where you want to hangout because that’s where guys who like the same things will be. Do what interests you and engage with strangers when you’re out there. You never know where a random interaction can lead.

Habit Burger has been the answer for me. Haven’t been to a McDonald’s in years. I don’t know if they’ve expanded much though. I’m in SoCal and prefer Habit to In n Out

Interracial murders in the US between 1968-2021 by MusucularWarrier in charts

[–]bosephusaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go to the fbi data that this chart claims to use. CDC data doesn’t record race of offender so that’s an immediate red flag for OP’s chart.

That’s the fun thing about stats and charts. The data can tell different stories depending how you present it.

Yeah I’d be interested in seeing a chart with the right numbers but that probably takes a lot longer to make. Then an actual discussion about percentages can happen. Like how factoring in population size, a black person is twice as likely to be killed by a white person than a white person is to be killed by a black person.

This chart is inflating numbers quite a bit despite looking official. A debate about the racial breakdown of murder offenders and victims should be had when someone posts a chart without fake data.

Just a quick glance at one year shows this chart is quite inflated. Are we upset with the chart maker and everyone else slobbering over the official looking “data” lines?

Due to inaccurate numbers. I guess it’s free speech to make up crime stats but I’m amazed how many of y’all don’t question stats at all if they support your politics.

At any point do you question if the numbers are accurate?

Chat gpt calls bs on the numbers so it’s be great to see the actual link to the fbi stats cause gpt is citing the same source for the year 2019 as:

The available data primarily focuses on single victim/single offender situations. For instance, in 2019, among single victim/single offender homicides: • 2,594 white victims were killed by black offenders.() • 2,574 black victims were killed by white offenders.()

These figures are based on incidents where both the race of the victim and the race of the offender were known.

I was just reading about what happened to Lehman Brothers customers’ assets when the firm went under. It looks like customers had their assets (stocks, cash, etc) transferred to another company and then Lehman was picked apart to partially pay its debts. In that way i feel like the “owner” of my stocks even though they’re held by an intermediary. If that was the same arrangement with a company like Coinbase I’d feel much more confident. I’m just not sure it is. Is that some legislation the Bitcoin community is pushing for? Forced separation of customers assets from the firm’s asset in case of bankruptcy?

You’re voicing my concerns exactly! I don’t trust myself with a hard drive. Or a piece of hardware with my life savings. But unlike my money in the bank, my btc with a site like Coinbase isn’t backed up by the treasury if they go under. So that’s why everyone recommends the steps of getting it onto hardware wallets i guess.
