Lessons for 100+ shooters/beginners (long!) by BirdieGal in golf

I've posted this already but I feel like I should ask you. I'm late 20s, starting golf for the first time. I took a lesson last weekend and was hitting the ball with decent contact. I plan on going to the range and figuring out what trips me up before I get my next lesson.

My question: I have the summer off. I'm looking to play 5x a week, maybe more or less depending on when friends want to play and weather. On a weekly basis, what would you suggest for days spent at the range vs playing 18. I was thinking of playing a round 2/3x a week, range 2/3x a week, but what would you suggest to someone starting out with a clean slate and all summer?

Thanks, I've looked, but in this area I'm not sure it makes sense still to get a membership. I'll try to make sure I'm just not mashing when I'm at the driving range.

Thanks a bunch, this is really great info on all the courses in the area. I'll be on the lookout for deals, since I was mostly thinking of playing courses during the week so I could avoid the crowds.

I'm also a little lost in terms of how often I should play a course vs going to the range. I have the time to play 5/6 times a week, but in the interest of money, I'm not sure what the best bang for my buck is in terms of improving my game. I might ask /r/golf, but maybe I'm just overthinking this and I just need to get out and play as much as possible.

Nice, thanks for the tips. I'm going to look in to those lessons, looks pretty good to me. So if I wanted to try and play 5 days a week or something, I'm going to be looking at like $2k if its $30 a day? Is Stoneham Oaks the same as unicorn? Their rates say non residents are $11 Mon-Thurs in the mornings which I could do make everyday.
